Display & Sound in Settings kicks back to Home Screen!!

This used to work just fine; I noticed this for the first time last week - tried several times - can't get around it.

So essentially, under Settings, all the menu options work just fine, except one - "Display & Sound". As soon as I press the "Display & Sound" button, I'm kicked back to the Home Screen. The option never opens!! All the other menu buttons are working just
fine - no issues. But for the life of me, this won't work! I can't get into the Display & Sound option screen.

I've tried a full power-down (unplug from wall) restart of the console; still the same problem.

Anyone has any ideas how to fix this? I should be able to get into my Display & Sound settings.

    Thanks!

    :)

Changing resolution - screen now blank

    I found a temporary fix. Here's how:

At your home screen click on "My games and apps"

After make your way to "settings"

In settings click on "display & sound"

In display & sound, change tv connection from "detect" to "hdmi"

Once this is done, there will be an option in tv resolution to change from 640x480 to 1080p.

I hope this helps. It worked for me.

    Cheers.

    screen region cut off

Your Xbox One console supports a variety of display settings. It's easy to select the settings that are best for your television (your tv should be able to support at least 720p though). Here's how:

Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.

    Select Settings.

    Select All Settings.

Select Display & sound, and then select Video output.

Choose the display and picture settings appropriate for your TV.

Display & Sound in Settings kicks back to Home Screen!!

    Anyone?

This is really annoying. I can't believe I can't access the Display & Sound menu - one of the most important settings for the system.

  5. The exact same thing just happened to me!

"Under Settings, all the menu options work just fine, except one - "Display & Sound". As soon as I press the "Display & Sound" button, I'm kicked back to the Home Screen. The option never opens!"

The only coincidence is that the last thing remember successfully using "Display & Sound" was tweaking "Forza Motorsport 5".

I hope someone finds an answer to this problem, ASAP!

Sounds like corrupted data on your consoles. Try clearing the persistent storage by going to settings--->disc and blue ray---->persistent storage, and then clear it 3 times. Then perform a hard reset by turning off the console, unplug the cords, and hold
down the power button for 30 seconds.

If that doesn't work, you might want to restore your console to factory defaults.

    Hope this helps

  7. OK

Did not work: Clearing the persistent storage by going to settings--->disc and blue ray---->persistent storage, and then clear it 3 times. Then perform a hard reset by turning off the console, unplug the cords, and hold down the power button
    for 30 seconds.

Worked: Restoring the console to factory defaults. (I'm glad the the XBox account remembers the previous settings!)

    Thank You!

Display & Sound in Settings kicks back to Home Screen!!

Restoring the console to factory probably will work in my case as well, I have no doubts; it's just a PITA. Lots of games to re-download over wifi; GB upon GB of data as most of my games on the console are digital.

I'll have to pick a day to do this but not happy about this. Wish there was a different way; shouldn't happen to begin with.

yeah, it is annoying...but hey, as long as you are disconnected from the internet while installing a game, it should go by faster.

Spyroman - I don't think you read it right; you're talking about disc-based games, which do go by faster when you're disconnected.

Most of my games are digital downloads; not disc-based, therefore I have to be connected to the Internet to re-download & install them. Quite large Gigabytes of data. Inevitably it will take quite a while in my case.

Like I said, there should be a better way to handle corrupted data like this which screws up your systems settings menu.

  11. Tried all the same things you guys have done.

I have tried the same thing by doing a full restore. After loading everything back it comes right back.

I also can't open TV & one guide. TV won't work through the box any longer either.

I've returned the box to Microsoft and they say nothing is wrong.

ANYONE FROM MICROSOFT THAT CAN HELP!!! THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATING.
