Display Issues

I turned on my Xbox One this morning and the display was very large and not formatted to my TV size. I tried resetting and even hard resetting my Xbox and still the display wasn't formatted properly. When I go into my display settings and change it from
1080 to 720 everything is formatted just not as crisp. When I change back to 1080 my display gets large and I lose real estate. Is my HDMI cable possibly bad? My T.V. is 46" Samsung LCD that's never had a problem displaying 1920x1080 before until today. Any
help would be greatly appreciated!

Display Discovery / Display Issues

Please make sure there are no kinks or bends in yur HDMI cable, sounds like you do a lot of reconnecting, and those wires aren't exactly known for their durability.

 

Display Discovery / Display Issues

I have my xbox connected to a monitor at times and a plasma tv. The monitor is new and the plasma tv is 3 years old. Just this week I have been having some display problems. When I have the Display Discovery Enabled and connect my xbox 360 to the monitor
that has speakers - all of sudden now I can't hear anything through the monitor speakers. I have an hdmi cable for the connection. Also, when I go into the display settings I do not have the option for HDTV Settings. It is not there. I do have a Screen
Resolution that I can pick though. If I disable the display discovery and restart it I get the HDTV Settings tab and I can pick 1080p. When I do that I get sound to come through the monitor speakers.

When I move my xbox 360 and connect it to my LG plasma tv with an hdmi cable it does the same thing if the display discovery is enabled. If I turn it off and restart it then I can choose 1080p and I get my sound back. I never had to do this before though.

At the same time this started happening with my display - I can't use my Netflix app. It loads the video and then gives me an error that says it can't display due to a setting. The netflix app does not work on either whether I have the display discovery enabled
or disabled.

I've tried using different inputs and also using different HDMI cables. So, I don't think those are the issues. There is no firmware update for either my monitor or tv. Something is just weird with my display discovery or something and it just changed this
week because it was fine earlier in the week.

 

Its weird that I tried this and it didn't work before but now it solved the issue. I set my Xbox to HDMI instead of "Auto Detect" then I manually set my resolution back to 1080 and now it is displaying properly again. Weird!

 

Now after returning to my Xbox One after it being turned off it has gone back to the large un formatted 1080 even while set to HDMI instead of Auto Detect. I have played with the settings again and it still wont give me the correct formatting outside of
720 resolution.

Sorry to hear about the display issues! I can definitely understand how frustrating that could be. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can get this issue sorted:

• First, press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
  
• Once your console has powered off, unplug the power cord.
• Unplug your HDMI cable and wait 5 minutes.
• Plug in your console and HDMI cable.
• Power on your console and check to see if the issue is continuing to occur.
