    Display Issue with Series X on One X


    So I'm running into a problem...

    Due to Astro royally screwing up the firmware update for the a50 to be used on the Series X (which doesn't support surround sound atm), I thought that a good workaround would be to have the HDMI out on my Series X go into the HDMI in on my One X, then the
    HMDI out on my One X to my TV. I could then launch the OneGuide app and have my Astro a50 audio go through on the One X for surround sound. Novel idea, right?

    Well, the cable I have going from the Series X is the Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable that came with the console. The HDMI cable I use from the One X to the TV is also an Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable. It seems that when I use this method, my One X is
    only displaying the Series X content in 1080p and not 4K. I tried ever manner of settings and even tried different inputs to ensure it isn't the TV's HDMI connection.

    My only thought as to why this might be is that the HDMI-IN on the One X only supports 1080p as the 4K content must be native (grabbed from the store/game pass directly). Can anyone give me a definitive answer? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a work-around?

    If I were to buy the Astro adapter intended for PS5 that allows an HDMI-IN connection as well as an Optical In, will the Series X pick up the Optical In audio channels via HDMI? And if yes, will the audio be 5.1 surround with Dolby Atmos support?

    Hi,

    The Series X supports 1080P resolution in the settings same as Xbox One and One X. Games on Series X will still render in 4K, but will downscale to whatever display you have. There won't be any loss in quality at all.

    As for 120hz though they can display it games are still max 60fps. The series x which is the next gen xbox will be able to do 120fps games

    Hi,

    Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox was only optimised for Xbox One X it hasn't been optimised for the Series S or X hardware. On the Series S it runs in Xbox One Backwards compatibility mode. As such, it runs at around 900P (around 1600x900). This means it will look quite soft looking on a 4K display, although it should not affect the colours or the contrast.

    Unfortunately, RDR2 is not great on the Series S, especially on a 4K display. FIFA 23 is Series S|X optimised, which is why this game looks a lot better.

    what i can gather is hdmi 1.4 supports 1080p at 120hz and 1440p at 75hz so it will run with series x but you will be stuck at 1440/60hz most likely.

    now if the series x had display port that would solve the issue.

    most games will be targeting 60fps on 1440 and 4k anyway on the series x with some varying degree.

    We are having exactly the same issue with my Grandson. I managed to finally get him a series X last week. The game payed fine on his xbox one x and also on my X box one x. Having the same loading issue on the series x as others here which is really annoying as it is one of his favourite games.
