Display for xbox one is stretched after 10/21/2021 update

Turned on my xbox one today and it did automatic update. After update finished and console started up noticed screen was stretched cutting off some of the top, bottom and sides of display. Tried resetting xbox nothing changed. Tried going through video settings and none of the changes I tried made any difference. I had no issues with screen display until this latest update. Xbox is connected to a Roku tv with 1080P display. Have been using with this same tv for 3 years with no problems. Tried viewing different things on tv and no issues with screen size. Only the xbox displaying screen stretched when connected. Thanks for any suggestions.

    :)

Hello, how are you? My name is Mateus. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

First, welcome to the Xbox community, and we're sorry you're having this issue. Seeing what problem you are having I suggest you try the steps below before we try any different solutions.

Try testing your console on another TV or Monitor if possible

Change the HDMI port your console is connected to the tv and also the console itself

Try plugging the console directly into the power outlet, without using a line filter

Try testing the console on another power outlet

Try using another HDMI cable if possible

    - If none of the above steps solve the problem, I suggest you try the solutions below.

    'Solution 1:

Step 1. Press and hold the Xbox button on the console for at least 10 seconds to open the Power center.

Step 2. Then unplug the power supply from your console and wait for 3 minutes.

Step 3. Plug the power supply back into the Xbox console.

Step 4. Press the Xbox button on the console to turn it on again.

    Solution 2:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to bring up the guide menu. Once you see it, use it to access the Settings menu.

Once you’re inside the Settings menu, navigate to Display & Sound > Video Output > Video Fidelity & Overscan.

Once you're inside the Video Fidelity & overscan menu, look under the column listed as Display and you should see a TV connection with a drop-down menu. By default, it’s set to Auto-Detect (Recommended). To fix the issue, change it to HDMI, and then confirm that you want to override your TV settings.

After you manage to complete and confirm the operation, return to the Display menu and change the resolution normally. You should now see the full list of available resolutions (not just 640 x 480).

*Thank you in advance for contacting, I hope this can help you.

Xbox Series X controllers have input issue but Xbox One X controller works perfectly

Unfortunately, there is no way to know this kind of information, as each firmware released for the console system is specifically designed for each type of thing. We recently had an update that made the 4k dashboard available for Xbox x series and night mode functions, as informed by the link below.

    - Anyway, as I said, I suggest that you report the problem on the link I made available to you because only then they will be able to do something to fix this ''bug''

    XBox One on larger monitors

tbh I can put up with it looking a bit soft due to the display interpolating from 720p/1080p to 1440p so long as it doesn't try to stretch a 16:9 image to 21:9.

Xbox series S and an ultrawide monitor issue

    Hi,

As no Xbox consoles support ultra-wide 16:10 aspect ratio displays, the image will have to be stretched to fit the screen. There is no work around for this.
