Disney's Little Mermaid: Undersea Treasures - Removal of achievements

Hi, wasn't sure about where to post this, hopefully this is the right section.

Is there any chance that the achievements list for Disney's Little Mermaid: Undersea Treasures will ever be updated to remove the unobtainable achievements? The achievements in question were set to be related to downloadable content that would be released
at a later date, but then all future content was cancelled, leaving the bare-bones version of the game with very little content. This resulted in only 25 gamerscore of a possible 200 ever being available, with 3 achievements obtainable and 17 unobtainable.

As the base version of the game (without DLC) was free, a number of people downloaded and played the game, only to get stuck with a set of locked achievements on their profiles that will NEVER be obtainable. It'd be different if it was paid content that
was delisted, as that would have at least been available at some point in time. With this game, players were never given the chance to even play the DLC linked to said achievements.

Short version - Is there any chance that the achievements list will be updated to remove the 17 achievements that have never been and will never be available?

Frozen free fall snowball fight update

Sadly, companies have done this on several occasions, including at least one game published by Microsoft themselves. A game has had DLC in some stage of production and the achievements have been added to the Microsoft database, but the DLC was never released.
A couple of good examples would be
Hellboy: The Science of Evil and
Disney The Little Mermaid: Undersea Treasures. As Daft Badger has stated, it's up to the publisher,
Disney Interactive Studios, and the developer,
SuperVillain Studios, to complete and release the DLC.

 

Day One Achievement issue

Yeh, The achievement can no longer be found unless it was pinned before the removal of the 0G achievement.

I wish it was a little badge on are profiles.

 

This needs to be addressed urgently. This is not fair on fellow completion hunters like myself. Please address this as soon as possible.

Also, a long shot, but achievements where servers go down, becoming unobtainable should also be removed from the achievement list on the game in question.

 

Hey, guys! For any issues with achievements, specifically with achievements that are no longer redeemable, you will want to reach out to the developer on this issue. For this game in particular, that is
HitPoint. Reach out to them to see if they are will to give an update to the game to remove these achievements from the servers.

The achievements aren't coming back, I'm sorry to say. I also have 3/20 won, so I'm in the same boat. It's really a shame. It seems like the content may have been completed but not distributed. Might be a licensing issue, but that's just speculation.

It's a bummer when things like this happen. If the game isn't coming out, then I'd like to see the other 17 achievements removed. It appears that such changes to games can occur, as recently happened with Rayman Fiesta Run. There's a thread here on this

Unfortunately, HitPoint said they cannot do anything about it because Microsoft owns the rights and they cannot touch it. Here's my email and their response.

Thanks for getting in touch! Unfortunately, Microsoft ended the project before we finished the first game in the series over a year ago. We do not have the rights to work on it anymore either since it was their property. Strange they suggested you reached
out to us. I had a couple people reach out about this game saying the same thing, but we can't work on it or distribute it.

That's essentially the same response that I got. HitPoint no longer has the license. That throws the issue back into Microsoft Studio's court if the rights have reverted. I can't fault a developer for not doing something that legally they can't do.

So please please please... who do we talk to at MS about an unobtainable that appears to now be completely within their purview? Surely Microsoft can remove achievements from games for which they control the rights...?

 

Hey, guys! Unfortunately, if HitPoint is unable to assist you, then there is nothing further that can be done on the support end. We were not the developer, only the publisher, so we are unable to remove those achievements. While we may own the rights to
it, that only means that no one else can work on the game itself; that does not mean we have the ability to change anything.

While I understand the frustration with not having a complete game showing on your account (and believe me, I do), changes to games that are no longer on the marketplace isn't something that we do. However, this isn't where it ends. I highly suggest that
this be turned into a
Feedback site post. Be sure to post it as something vague, not specific; you will want to make sure it's an overview of the situation (game delisted, need to get rid of broken achievements - as an example). This way the right people can get an eye on the
situation and it may help spur us getting new processes.
