Dismantled my 360 to repair Disk Drive - Now Controllers won't sync (wired & wireless)

I'll try to make this as short/readable as possible without turning it into a wall of text.

    [Mod Removed]

Neither of my two wireless controllers will sync, the green lights go round and round then flash constantly.

I went to a game shop today and bought a "Charge and Play" device to connect the controller to the usb port and it still doesn't read it!?!?!

    - Wirelessly I cannot turn on the XBox with the green X button on the controller (or navigate from the home screen once the console is turned on from the power button)

    - With the C&P device plugged in and into a USB port I CAN turn on the console, but the controller still won't function from then on.

I'm guessing it's not the RF unit as the console still won't accept my controllers when they're wired in, so I'm at a complete loss and YouTube is proving no help with this particular problem.

Does anybody have any idea what I've done wrong and if possible, how to rectify my stupid error before my wife kills me.

    Many thanks in advance!

    :)

    Controller syncing

my xbox one refuses to sync wireless controllers so I had to use the cable and used them via wired cable. Now my Xbox won't even recognize a controller that's wired, and I'm only using official xbox accessories for the Xbox one

    Ah, my bad!

I did wonder if that would be a problem on the official forums.

    Thanks anyway!

and to add your ONLY option is to buy a new 360 as MS will not fix a self repaired console they will just send it back and there is a possibility that even if you get it running again you can be console banned for system tampering sorry.

Just to confirm what you've already discovered: on the Xbox 360, the Play & Charge kit does not turn a wireless controller into a wired USB controller. The cable only charges a Microsoft rechargeable battery pack and/or powers the controller (it can
function with no battery at all), but the controller still communicates wirelessly with the console (or doesn't, if something is wrong with the controller or console).

Many thanks for the clarification DannoMcK, I purchased a dedicated wired controller today and it works fine. My wireless ones still won't sync, but at least I now have a lead on what the problem is.

    Again many, many thanks.
