Disk read error 0x80820002

I have been experiencing issues while trying to load game disks. It started about two months ago when the system would not load a disk. I followed the troubleshooting recommendations for hard reset and unplugging. This seemed to fix the issue. I do not play
the system very often, and when I do I usually play the same game. I noticed recently, after receiving a few games for xmas, that I was unable to load game disks once again. I followed the same trouble shooting tips but to no avail. I reset the system like
10 times and finally got a game to load. At that point, I noticed that the system would load and play a game, but would not load another game if I tried to change it.

I contacted customer support via chat (reference number 1274878080) who walked me through all of the trouble shooting steps once again. The end result was for me to send the system in for replacement. I was notified that my warranty expired on 21NOV2014
and that I would have to pay for the replacement!!!

This is absolutely unacceptable! I stood in line on day one and paid top dollar for this system only to find out that it will only last one year before I have to pay for a repair. I asked if there was any way that the fee could be waived and the tech told
me to post on the forum to ask for a warranty extension. Well here I am... Can you please extend my warranty so you can repair the broken system that lasts only one year?

I would have sent the system in earlier but all of the trouble shooting/tech support told me to keep resetting it. Well that is what I did all the way up until my warranty ran out. I am active duty military am constantly leaving home. Every time that I try
to address this issue, I end up leaving and this gets put on the back burner. The issue resolves for a bit and I don't notice it again until I get back.

I have been a loyal MS customer for a very long time. I spent a lot of money on this system and expect MS to stand behind their product. I hope that MS is able to rectify this issue, as failure to fix this problem will push me to invest my time/money in
another product. I am not looking for a hand out here, but I refuse to believe that MS wants it's customers to send in their consoles 364 days after the purchase date just in case they received an inferior/defective product.

xbox one disk drive not working after june update

after getting the june update the bluray drive in my xbox one gives error code (0x80820002) to all bluray movies and xbox one disks. the only type of disk it will read is dvds, and I have gotten it to play both game disks and bluray movies by running a dvd
for a few seconds before trying them. is there a fix for this or is it just the drive failing?

 

Sorry, we are unable to play this disc.

I just bought an XBox One yesterday and today I set it up. When I insert discs I get an error 0x80820002 and it won't read any of my Games, Blu-Rays or CD's. Anybody else have this issue?

 

hi, my disc player has stopped working all together, it won't even pull the disk into the tray.

I too stood in line and shelled out the extra cash for Day1.

I am not impressed that MS would use cheap components in the "flagship" console.

If you folks at MS want premium dollars for your products, how about providing a premium product!!!

 

I have to agree that the disk drives in the Xbox one are total crap, my prob is I put a disk in and it sounds like its grinding and it won't read, I have to put it in at least 5 time for it to read. I'm eventually gonna have to send mines it before the warranty
expires.

 

I have the same issue with the disc read error. it would occur with any disc that was inserted. It started a few months back and the advice provided was a hard reset (hold the Xbox logo on the console for 10 seconds and then unplug/replug the power cord).
The hard reset worked until today. I've tried a hard reset 3 times and nothing. When I called Xbox support the first thing they asked me to do was a hard reset. After I told them I have already tried 3x they went into the replace/repair option only to
find my warranty expired only 16 days ago. If this problem started a few months back, and there were known issues with this, we should all be entitled to a free replacement.

 

This sucks. Nice to know that MS techs are looking into this issue. Been a week and still no reply. I talked to a service tech last week and he told me that there was nothing that they could do and that I had to pay the fee for the repair. Amazing how tech
support told me to keep doing the hard reset up until my warranty ran out. Now all they can tell me is to send it in. Come on MS where is the customer service. I expect better from you. Send me an email or something.

I am having the same problem. I hardly ever used my xbox because I am not a gamer, so the drive got very little use. (I bought it primarily to stream NFL Sunday ticket.) I am furious that I have what is, in effect, a $350 Roku, as all I can do is stream
video. I just want to watch a darned movie. I would be ridiculous to pay $115 to fix the hard drive, as I can buy a DVD player cheaper than that. Did I mention that I figured out after buying the xbox that I am not a gamer?
