    Hi, why is it that if I have a disk version of a game, my Xbox installs the game pass version of the game?...when I don’t want the game pass version because I’m cancelling game pass. I bought train sim world on disk collectors edition because it has extra
    add-ons on the disk whereas on game pass is just the basic version......but when I try to install from the disk I get the game on game pass so I can’t play the add ons even though I have paid for them on disk! I can’t even terminate my game pass immediately
    because even if I end subscription I have to wait until Dec 21st for it to run out so that my Xbox won’t recognise it has game pass so hopefully won’t interfere with disk games. Games pass is nothing but trouble as it stops people using their disk based games
    properly. I will never never again buy a game on disk (even if it is a superior version) when the game is on game pass. The easiest is not to have game pass. Not happy with Microsoft when other people have had similar issues and nothing is being done about
    it. A big flaw in the Xbox licensing system.

    Thanks for coming to the forums. If you are asking if a digital save can be used with a disk version. Then yes, it is possible as it only is a save for the game. Licenses are issued to your profile for digital games, and disk games the license is on the
    disk.

    There is a Forza sized hole, in the Xbox Backwards Compatibility Catalogue

    You are forgetting with October just passed the forza 7 and older titles licenses were expired

    Horizon is done by another team completely

    .in order to be in bc you need to have approval by the developer

    Since it is a sports license and advertising yes licenses do matter

    Disks are fine but you are forgetting disks don't need to be sold currently and the games have been our of circulation for awhile

    Have the disk but bought a model s so had to download game to it. Error is not asking for license, but when trying to start game the msg is" looks like you game pass is expired, restart if you think this is a not true "

    Not exact words but close

    Since S has no drive can't install from disk.

    Downloading from game pass

    i am experiencing this same issue.. Downloaded 7.6g and will not start up, error 0x803f8001, wich basically says theres no disk or license shared.. Im set to home share and this game was installed on my profile. I can play other games previously installed
    from both "live" and "game pass" so its just this game.

    no, because there is no point updating a game you don't have a license for, putting the disk proves the license.
