Disk Drive Not Reading

Hi occasionally my disk drive dose not read my Xbox One Game disk and or makes a grinding sound almost.

This has been happening for a while and has only gotten more common

One of the only way that i can fix it is to put a CD or other disk in.

By the time I wanted to buy a warranty for it It was too late

Disk drive not reading

A while back, I started having trouble with my disc drive not being able to read any discs unless I tried multiple times for about 20 minutes. I've recently had it cleaned, and now it works great for most games and bluray movies, but it can't seem to read
any dvds or Destiny for some reason.

I know that the disc drive has been an issue with some people, but like I said, since it was cleaned, most discs start right up with no trouble, but regular dvds will stop spinning almost immediately after I put them in and refuse to be read. Destiny will
at least spin a few times for about a minute, but it still won't read. Anybody got any tips or advice?

Side note: I am part of Xbox preview and I was previously told that it COULD be a software bug associated with that. but I'm afraid to try going back to non-preview for fear that I won't be able to get it back...

Sorry you're having issues with your drive. That sound is definitely not normal. If you're now having issues reading discs or its causing any damage to the discs I would use the link below and submit a repair on your Xbox. If you've had the console longer
than a year you will need to pay to have it serviced, which is far less than a new console.

Will it read other disks? Disk drive could be bad or on need of cleaning.

That information is incorrect. You should not take your console to Microsoft initially. There is a Suport thread for this issue already:

As a new Ambassador, you should read every sticky before you try to make a helpful post. In addition, this is no need to convey this sort of information except for in a thread where someone is actually having this problem. Do not make a seperate thread about
this issue unless you're having it.

If the disk drive makes an increesed buzzing noise (Louder than normal) while the disk is spinning, You may have an unbalanced disk. Which means when it spins up to read the disk will be vibrating inside the drive making it unreadable.

This could also explain why the disk can read some times but not all the time, due to the faster the disk spins the worse the problem will be.
