My disk drive is messing up on my Xbox One. I know I need to update, but I'm broke. Could I play the games in digital form that are currently downloaded on my hard drive and I already own. Is there anyway that this can be done? Because if not then that's just crazy! Logically it seems like you could since the game is already downloaded onto the consoles hard drive. Its looking like the physical disc is just used to confirm ownership license or whatever its called? I'm definitely not paying for the same game twice cause some of them are Day One editions with extra content and pre-order games that ran me $100.

    :)

Disk Drive messing up and wondered if I could play the games I currently own and are downloaded on my hard drive in digital form?

Nope either you can try and get it repaired or check your discs

If it's og Xbox one they don't fix those anymore paid or free

    CD..? [Answered]

You are totally correct a physical disk is required to be in the disk drive to enable the owned game to be played. The only way to own it digitally is to pirchase it digitally. The only real downside to digital games is you cant currently lend or sell
    them.

Is there any way to fix this?

Install to HD disk always. XBox will then only spin up the disk to confirm that you own the disk. Not only do you lower the risk of scratched disks but you can continue to use scratched ones. For example, I have an old Mass Effect 1 & a Perfect Dark Zero
disk that were scratched; I borrowed a friend's copies to install but can still use my own to play the Hard Disk content.

In the case of GTA V, you need to install the "Install" disk to the Hard Drive and they recommend not to install the "Play" disk to the same drive. However, you could install an unscratched "Play" disk to a USB drive instead. Hopefully, you can then continue
to play GTA V (with the scratched disk for license purposes)

    Console RROD in Cogneto??

It may have been the laser messing up the disk. Is it only one game messing up with graphics, or is it for all games? Check for a etched ring on your games that has screwy graphics, if so, you may have a disk drive failure.

Question concerning Xbox one x disk drive

Yeah thats what i was wondering, as far as i can tell the disk drive seems to be working like it always does so i guess from this point on ill have to be extra careful. Theres the nagging thought in the back of my head that i messed something up of course
