Pre download Xbox Series X games

    Not really...

Xbox Series X games / upgrades / updates has to be installed onto the Series X internal or expansion card SSD,

You can have Xbox One games on your external hard drive that will get an Series X upgrade but the games will need to be transferred to the Series X and then the Series X upgrade will need to be downloaded onto the Series X SSD,

    As an example...

I have Marvel Avengers on my external hard drive that will get the Series X upgrade and I will transfer the game over to the Series X SSD ready to download and update the game to the Series X version when available.

The new expansion card for Xbox Series X

    Hi,

Current external hard drives are USB 3.0 5,400 RPM mechanical hard drives. These drives are very slow compared to the Expansion card. You won't be able to run Series X/S games from current external hard drives, not even the 2.5" external SSD drives either.
But, you will be able to archive your Series X/S games to these drives to save downloading again.

The expansion card can run all compatible Xbox games. Which will be Series X/S, Xbox One and the BC Xbox 360 and original Xbox games on the BC list.

Xbox One and other Backwards compatible games will load a lot faster on either the internal storage or the expansion card than they would if you ran them off your external hard drive.

Microsoft has a video on YouTube showing 'The Outer Worlds' loading in just 11 seconds on a Series X/S SSD, compared to nearly 60 seconds on Xbox One.

    Xbox one X

All Xbox One X consoles contain a standard 2.5" mechanical hard drive that is not user replicable. There are no official models with an SSD. Any discussions regarding replacing the internal drive are strictly prohibited on these forums.

You can use an external SSD on a One X. This can be one you can buy ready to plug in with the built-in USB cable or you can buy a standard SATA III SSD and attach it to a SATA to USB adaptor or via drive enclosure connected via USB.

Due to the low I/O speed of the One X, caused by its rather slow CPU, you can't get the same speed as you would with an external USB SSD on the Series X|S consoles.

Ok now i have a few interesting new insights.

First of all, i bought a new USB Flash drive and format it to NTFS. This one works normally, so i will use that instead.

But still: i connected my SSD to a friend's Xbox One and found a few things.

The menu on my Xbox Series X shows, that there is no space left on my SSD but on the Xbox One it shows the correct storage space. If i select the option to set it as capture location it asks for confirmation, but if i confirm it nothing happens.

So to wrap it all up...i don't understand anything anymore. Did the Xbox Series X corrupt the SSD but just for itself?
