Discussion: Is the fact that Microsoft keeps the online functionality of old Xbox consoles...

well the original xbox and games are not online as that was ditched years ago, the current live system is scalable, but same with psn that is still going strong too.

the problem comes when game companies decide to switch off the servers for games after just a couple of years, i would say both are ok, but ill stick with pc as that is always online and if not you have the ability to make games playable online again.

Weren't the 360 servers for the Halo games closed in December last year? Closing down online functionality on old games isn't a 'scam' it's a fact of life.

But you know that is hard for the developers keeping old games servers online, since they got new games and became expensive keeping old servers games online. Microsoft cannot have the servers, because they belong to the developer and not to the console
platform.

I have a brand new (5 or so day old Xbox one). The controller keeps disconnecting and connecting. I went through all the steps I can find online to address up the issue, and all the steps that Microsoft support can provide. This system should be functioning
properly when I purchased it, yet, after spending $700 plus on all games , xbox live, and the console itself I am unwilling to spend another cent on something that should have been functioning when I purchased it. It is unacceptable to me to have to pay
another 20 dollars for Microsoft to address a problem that should have been caught in testing/quality control.

It was a mandatory condition to keep it connected online at all times originally before Microsoft back flipped and as a result some of the release titles still require an online connection to function.
