Discs don't read

    Discs don't read


    With a lot of my games/DVDs it takes a number of attempts of ejecting and reinserting the disc before the Xbox reads it. Does anyone else have this issue?

    Xbox 360 (original version) DVD disc reading sound

    If your discs don't get damaged it may be an issue with your consoles DVD drive motor bearings. The reason why it doesn't make the same sound when you play games is because game discs read much faster than DVD movie discs, which causes the discs to spin
    more.

    Simple Enquiry...

    Xbox One discs are Dual Layer BD-ROM discs 50 GB, which is pretty much standard now. In addition, the One S and the One X can also read UHD Blu-ray feature film discs. Neither the One S or One X can read BDXL discs, I don't know enough about the hardware
    to say for sure if this is due to a hardware or software issue. Note that despite the similar storage capabilities, UHD Movie Blu-ray discs are factory pressed, while BDXL is a writable format largely for burning discs with a PC.

    Despite the One S and the One X's ability to read UHD discs, they will not be used for Game media.

    Sorry. This is not what you're going to want to hear. This sounds like a hardware fault. You should contact Xbox Support immediately as they may need to repair or replace your console. Note I'm assuming multiple games and movies are affected and the disks
    are clean.

    Yes all games and DVDs are clean and scratch free

    When the disks eventually do read the console makes a loud click (like something has clicked into place)

    You don't need a paid account. If it's not reading other 360 discs as well, then it's most likely an issue with the disc drive.

    I just hold on to the disc and make the Xbox one pull it in.. Works every time, but if I don't it will not spin up or read disc

    Why are there load times if we installed

    It still takes time to read the game off the hard drive, just like with reading a game off the disc. The hard drive is just a bit faster, and you don't have to have a disc spinning constantly and wearing down your disc drive when it's on the hard drive.

    As the discs will not be read properly whether the USB is plugged in or not, I don't believe that is the problem.
