Discrete audio for split screen games

I play split screen games with my niece and nephew and one of the biggest issues I have is the mixed audio. It's easy enough to ignore half the screen, but when you hear foot steps or gun fire you never know if it's near you or the other player. When the
headset adapter for the XB1 was first announced I remember reading that it would support separate audio for split screen games. I thought that was the answer to all my issues. On black Friday I found a killer deal on a pair of XO Ones so I bought two pairs.
I just finally tried them out last night and much to my dismay I still hear mixed audio from both sets of headphones. Discrete audio for split screen games :(

After some reading I see that separate audio in split screen is not a feature of any current game. But there is still that list of features from the initial release that says it's possible. So what I'd like to know is if this is really possible and games
just aren't using it? Or if that list was wrong and it's never going to happen? If it's never going to happen then I might as well sell or give away the headsets. I have much better X41s for my individual play, I only bought these for split screen. If it's
not going to ever work then I have no use for the XO Ones. If it's possible that it will work in some future game or update then I'll hold on to them and see what comes along.

    Anyone know anything about this?

    Dan

    :)

Does the new audio adapter allow games that do local split-screen to also support split audio for each player?

Split screen games are one of my main-stay game types on my Xbox One.

One of the most difficult aspects of playing a split screen is not the reduced size and resolution, but the mixed audio for all players.

Does the new audio adapter for the Xbox One controller allow games to send split audio to each player?

  3. Xbox One Chat Adapter - Split Screen Games

    Hey there EasyTarget197!

What you are experiencing is not game specific. Split screen audio for split screen games is not an available feature on the Xbox One. What this means is that all headsets playing a split screen game will receive combined audio.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help with and we will be standing by.

  4. Discrete audio for split screen games

    Hi Dan,

This is not supported currently by any game.

I can't say for sure if this will never be supported but in general the sounds of games do not have options per controller so as it stands, there would need to be the addition of sound settings per controller before this could be a reality.

    Snap Mode Question!

Snapping splits your audio. You can snap tv and xbox music. Had TV snapped most of the day while playing madden.

Hope they put in a 50/50 screen share, make the voice command "split". I like the idea of game audio through the Headset, whoever said that.

Two controllers with chat headsets on same Xbox. Can they chat?

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, the audio feeds are separate. So if we have to controllers on split screen each with a stereo headset plugged in then they get their own audio. It's pretty cool actually.

No surround sound during split screen co op campaign Gears 5!!!

Most likely because it has to put out audio at different rates for the split screen.

Thus limiting the audio ability. One player being closer to an explosion will be different then another player at another part of the map.
