    Discord server privacy settings for Xbox accounts


    I have recently discovered a Discord server requiring its members to open for the duration of their stay in that server their Xbox account privacy settings so that the Discord server moderators can vet them, a means to show that the member is abiding to
    the server's rules. This requirement, although its members voluntarily open their privacy settings for all to see, seems ridiculous, and, to my knowledge, against the Privacy Act and GDPR privacy policies. Is this Discord server requirement allowed? If it
    means anything, I have screenshots of conversations with some members of this server and this server's owner from when I refused to open my privacy settings, if anyone from Microsoft is interested. I don't know if this information is desired at all.

    Even after submitting an easier and safer process for vetting their members in the way that they were already doing, I was ridiculed for considering their process to be... bad.

    This sounds like something we would be able to deal with on the Minecraft discord under the #community-support channel if you're willing to join the discord server. (Invite in my signature)

    Have you checked that all your privacy settings are set to 'allow', both on the 'privacy' and 'windows 10' tab? If so remember these can take up to 24 hours to apply.

    I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with linking your Discord account to your Xbox. Please try the following steps to fix the problem:



    1. On your Xbox, go to Settings > Account > Linked social accounts and unlink your Discord account.

    2. On your PC or mobile device, open the Discord app and go to User Settings > Connections and disconnect your Xbox account.

    3. Restart both your Xbox and your Discord app.

    4. On your Xbox, go to Settings > Account > Linked social accounts and link your Discord account again. You should receive a code on your screen.

    5. On your PC or mobile device, open the Discord app and go to User Settings > Connections and connect your Xbox account. Enter the code that you received on your Xbox.

    6. On your Xbox, launch the Discord app and try to join a server.

    You might need to check your Xbox privacy settings!

    1. On Xbox console: go to Settings > Account > Privacy and Online Safety > Xbox Live Privacy > View Details & Customize
    2. Make sure your "Others can see if you're online" setting is set to Everyone
