  1. disconnects frequently, NAT type

hello, i have an actiontect pk5001a with century link and its a gateway and yes i know gateways are horrible for gaming, but i have issues with the NAT type which disconnects me frequently

i have upnp enabled but it doesnt work i dont think because it doesnt help what so ever

ive done port forwarding and ive done it correctly but when i go to see if its open on websites it says its closed? bump

i put it in the DMZ mode which did give me an OPEN NAT across all games and everything but it just made the issue worse by disconnecting me even more, such at every other minute so i turned that off

any help would be very much appreciated as this problem barely lets me use my xbox as it occurs even on netflix hulu and the halo channel!

    :)

    Xbox connection issues HELP!!!

Are you sharing internet connection? Because this "both have open NAT types" sounds like you are sharing internet.

    Xbox One Wireless Errors

I would just like to add to this, that my Xbox One frequently tells me that my NAT type is Moderate (in the Test Connection option under the connection settings) and other times will tell me that it is Open. My NAT type, by default, is Open.

Hey Shadowkiller! Just so you know, the Xbox has 7 ports to be forwarded, but you mentioned Call of Duty and Destiny both say moderate - this is actually because Activision games all have specific ports that have to be forwarded JUST for them, which is really
annoying! Are those the specific games you mention are disconnecting you in your first post? If so, try this:

For call of duty, add UDP ports 3075 and 3076 to your port forwarding, and for Destiny, add 1001 and 1200, also on UDP.

Oh, and don't always trust when a website tells you your NAT is closed, I've never been able to find a good desktop app or website that accurately reflects my NAT. The best places to check are by doing a Network Test in your Xbox One Network Settings, and
by looking at the multiplayer menu in the game itself (I know CoD multiplayer lists the type of NAT you have. I don't think Destiny does, iirc, but if you forward the two I listed, you'll be good to go.)

  7. I played a few rounds of COD and it said NAT TYPE OPEN and i played more rounds than it usually let me so it seemed to have worked

Netflix and Hulu disconnect randomly to, though im not entirely sure if since those ports fixed the games it'll fix those as well, or are there ports for netflix and hulu?

Great, I'm glad it's working for the gaming, at least! On the apps, I don't think they have a specific port for Netflix and Hulu, but one curious thing you might try: on the Xbox page, it lists port 80 TCP to forward, but NOT UDP. I'm curious what might
happen if you forward the UDP port as well, as UDP is more of an incoming/outgoing port. I can't say I'm an expert, but I would guess that would be the port specific to two-way communication like streaming.

Oddly, I did find some reference to a TCP Port 443 for Netflix, so that might also help, but I found nothing at all for Hulu. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that, between this and what you've already done, the streaming services behave a little better for
    you!

@Jaymo - There's no need to try forward port 80 for UDP.

In contrast to UDP (User Datagram Protocol), and IP (Internet Protocol), the TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) protocol is a connection oriented protocol. Port 80, mostly used for the HTTP protocol, don't use UDP. HTTP requries flow control and error checking,
which can't be accomplished by UDP.
