Disconnection - "You must have an active network connection to play Xbox Live."

Hi, I've been getting this problem on and off for months now with my Xbox One. A few minutes into the game (no matter what game I play) it'll disconnect with the above message showing. Sometimes the problem will stop for a few days and everything will appear
fine, then it'll happen again out of the blue.

We are with Virgin Media and we are using the Super Hub 2. The NAT is open, we have rebooted the hub several times and have tried power cycling the console (while rebooting the hub.)

Today we rang Virgin Media support and they helped us change the channel of the WiFi, factory reset the hub and opened the ports needed for the Xbox. They told us everything appears to be fine with the hub because they did a speed test through my laptop and
it was normal, so they concluded that we should contact Microsoft. They also gave us the full list of ports they opened to tell Microsoft (which I will give to whoever is the appropriate person to reply to.)

Would be extremely grateful for any help on this matter, it has been frustrating me for so long and I can't wait to finally get it sorted.

    - Mel.

    :)

Have you tried running a wired connection to your xbox with an ethernet cord? That would at least be away to see if your having issues of a signal dropping spastically causing issues.

Other than dropping on xbox live, does the rest of your network devices have a stable network connection?

If so, your modem/router may be operational and connecting for short periods of time. If the upstream channels from your modem to your ISP are not reaching it properly, your router may be dropping it's connection for a brief moment while it establishes upstream
communication again. The provider might not have good infrastructure cabling in your service area or there may be too many splitters in the line coax line on premise.

If your ISP is amiable you might give thier support a call back and check the downstream and upstream channel signals to your modem.

    Recommended signal levels:

    Signal/Noise Ratio (SNR , >30dB)

    Downstream Power (-15dbmV to +15dbmV)

    Upstream Power (37dbmV to 55dbmV)

Sorry to hear it. Are you connected wirelessly? If so are you able to try an ethernet cable to see if you still encounter the same issue? If you do not then the problem would lie with the wireless in the hub itself.

Sorry for delayed response, ethernet cable was only just delivered today. With the wired connection, everything seemed fine earlier as I went for some late night gaming tonight, my NAT went to moderate and now strict. I've tried rebooting the Hub and power
cycling the Xbox and it's still saying strict, although the network connection and multiplayer tests say everything should be fine. Just trying out Black Ops 3 to see if it'll connect online and it says the NAT is moderate on there, not sure why the game and
the console are saying different things about the NAT but it's still connecting me to a game, at least.

My laptop (wireless) doesn't seem to be affected by any problems throughout the months when I've given up on the Xbox due to the issue, no disconnections at all. Although sometimes my phone will randomly disconnect from the WiFi to the mobile data as if
it's been switched off. Also, the other day, we had to reboot the Hub because my phone and my mum's tablet were saying they weren't connected to a network suddenly. I noticed on my phone, the WiFi icon had an exclamation mark next to it before we rebooted
the Hub, which I'd never seen before. The devices were connecting again after the reboot, although I remember I had the problem with the Xbox disconnecting that night.

    Greetings PixieMel94!

Since there is an ongoing issue with wireless connectivity between the Xbox One and Superhub 2 (Netgear VMDG485), I would recommend that you stick to your wired solution (Ethernet).

Is your Superhub 2 the upgraded version (Superhub 2AC) or the older version (VMDG485)?

Another issue with the Superhub 2 has to do with IPsec being disabled by default. IPsec provides a security mechanism for Tunnel or transport mode and since its services is in conjunction with the Teredo tunneling protocol, it is important that you enable
IPSec Pass-Through mode on your gateway.

In regard to your smartphone and tablet being disconnected and unable to re-establish connectivity to your wireless network, I would recommend that you reach out to your ISP and have them know about this situation. It may be an issue in your home, related
to electromagnetic interference (EMI) or radio frequency interference (RFI), or a faulty gateway.

    Keep us posted!
