Disconnecting from XBox Live as soon as I enter a game.

Greetings, does this happens when you are trying to join a multiplayer game or even in single player games?

That usually happens, if the game has a title update stored in the system cache, and it became corrupted.

Please try the following:

Go to the Settings hub on the far right, and there to the System tile in the upper left.

There go to the storage options, and highlight any drive. Press the Y button. In the following menu choose to clear the system cache. Repeat that 3 times.

Go back to the drive selection, and choose all drives, go into the Profiles folder and find your Profile. Is that profile marked as corrupt? Re-Download your profile by pressing the Guide button, then X. Then choose "Download Profile", provide your Email
and Password, and let the profile download.

Try to play your game again.

If it requires a title update, the console will disconnect again (THIS TIME it is NORMAL for the console to do that).

After the game was updated, go back to the dashboard, and try launching the game again.

It should now start without you disconnecting.

But know this:

Every time the console has to update a game, it will disconnect from Live until the game is updated. The console only has space for 4 or 5 title updates. If you insert a sixth game that requires an update, the oldest update will be deleted from the console.

If you then insert the first game again, it will disconnect, download the update, and delete the second oldest update.

So if you have an unfortunate way of playing games that need updates, you might still get disconnected for updating the game.

Yeah it worked! my brother ended up restarting our modem and router and turns out it was just a problem with the router. looks like i was wrong about my router having nothing to do with it! Thanks a lot for the advice!

Sorry to hear that you can't connect. It sounds like you've taken some great troubleshooting steps so far, which is great. Something I think that could have been overlooked is to simply just to restart your modem and router. Your router may be providing
internet to other devices in your home, but this is always the first and best step to take. Let us know if and when you've tried this! Thanks

yep, I've been doing that. Completed the whole process about 4 times now.

If I enter the game offline and then hit connect to xbox live....As soon as I hit the button, it pops up as disconnected from xbox live.

I'm assuming this is due to it finding that the game needs an update, which brings me back to the same issue of being disconnected every time I try to play a game online.

What else can I try?
