disconnected from party but I can play games, the solution provided by Xbox doesn't work

The problem doesn't just stay with parties, I can not even play multiplayer games with them as it disconnects me from them, around the same time as it disconnects me from the party.

have you both tried to disconnect the internet connection on your xboxs then turning off your router and xbox then after a couple of minutes turning the router back on then turn the xbox on and reconnect back to live and see if it will let you ? or another
solution is have another friend host a xbox live party and you join there party and from there play? I have had this trouble in the past and what worked for me either time was those 2 solutions or if it is for a game like black ops 2 join there game in session
sometimes that works to but sum times none of it works and the very next day there is no issue can connect fine with no hassle

Some third party headsets actually can interfere with your Xbox experience because they broadcast on the same frequency as some routers.

I would suggest removing the headset from the equation by disconnecting the power from the base station of the headset and seeing if that helps clear up your connection issues.
