    Disconnected from Live - Alternative to restarting router


    There are a lot of people having issues getting disconnected from live.

    Usually, doing one of the following helps resolve the problem:

    1) Restarting your modem/router.

    2) Clearing cache.

    3) Changing settings on router (DMZ, NAT etc.)

    Like a lot of people, I have been having a lot of recurring disconnects. The only solution was to do a hard reset of my router. Very annoying since my router is in a little box upstairs in a closet.

    I finally found a way to restore xbox live connection WITHOUT having to restart the router.

    1) At the xbox dashboard, go to settings -> system settings -> network settings -> wired/wireless network -> Configure -> Basic Settings.



    2) If you are on Automatic, change to manual and provide an invalid IP address. If on Manual already, do the same.



    3) Restart your xbox. As expected, it will not connect to xbox live.



    4) Revert the xbox settings back to the original values. Do NOT try to connect to xbox live.



    5) Restart your xbox and you should be able to connect now.

    Please provide feedback on whether this worked for you or not. I have tried it a few times and it seems to work for me.

    disconnecting every 5 minutes from xbox live

    Things I have tried:

    - Port forwarding

    -disabling UPnP/ reenabling

    - DMZ

    -deleting profile/clearing cache/redownloading profile

    -going from wired to wireless connection, back to wired

    -restarting router

    -power cycling the router

    -turning the firewall on the router off

    -connecting to an entirely different internet connection and router

    -changed IP on router AND xbox

    i dont even know what else to do, still disconnecting from xbox live every 5-10 minutes, thought I am able to reconnect immediately after being disconnected

    Keep getting disconnected

    Hey there!

    LouisVuitton has good advice, restarting the modem/router can be a good first step! If there's no love there, can you please try this guide:

    Randomly Disconnected From Xbox LIVE    . Fingers crossed, it should fix what ails ya!

    that reset fix is the same as disconnecting from your router (settings/network settings/(your router)/disconnect (Y).......

    it does work as long as you dont turn off and turn on again your console, its not a complete solution. I figured that one out the other week, if you are on live, then disconnect from your router/modem,. the profiles still sign in and out fine, but restart
    console and its back to normal.
