Disconnected cable box until XB1 gets patched

Sorry - but my wife and in laws should not have to learn to use the XB1 to watch TV. It just isn't worth the comments and disagreements. Thanks for this awesome entertainment hub. PS This comes 2 days after reconnecting my internet bluray player that I
bought for $100 2 years ago - it handles BR content better as well. This leaves my XB1 only being used for games (BR player has Netflix and more apps than xb1). If I knew that was going to be the case, I would have bought the console that is marginally better
at playing games. It's a shame - I'm genuinely disappointed. I really enjoyed the NFL app on Sundays while watching games and could see the potential but I find it really hard to believe that this always on requirement didn't come up in testing with people
outside of the 18-35 male focus group.... Or did you just ignore the other groups completely? I expected more, MS. Shame on you.

Unprogramming the cable box.

Okay, so I hooked up my cable box to the XB1 and ran through all the installation stuff. It works, but I am not sure I wish to run the cable through XB1 now. I disconnected the box and plugged it into the TV but now it's remote doesn't work and there is
no picture. How do I unprogram the box?

i have time warner cable... i am waiting on the twc app for my 360... but im have faith xb1 will work.

the cable feed is not going into the xb1.. you need a digital cable box and that connects via hdmi cable as a box top... i dont see it having an affect where you get your cable from as long as your cable box has an hdmi out your fine.

 

We look at the Xbox One as an ever evolving eco-system. The console you see today will not be the same console 6 month/1 year/ etc. down the line. If you take the 360 as an example, from the blades dashboard to what it is today, what a difference! Even in
the video/audio quality it is much better than it was. The same will be true here, this is the first step in the evolution of “next gen” consoles. Please hang in there. We will be bringing out updates to fix and improve things like this. Thank you for understanding.

I bought something that was supposed to be the one device that should take pride of HDMI1 - it was supposed to control my media items and have HDMI input - none of it works properly or reliably. Why should we 'hang-on' for things that we reasonably expected
to work at launch. I can't tell you the number of times I have had to hard reboot the xbox one to get the TV app back to seeing a signal on the HDMI in port.

 

I think the big question is can the hdmi actually be patched to be pass through? Not when, just if would be good.

There is no amount of frustration that you could possibly have that would match us. I am not taking away your right to be angry/frustrated/ <insert negative emotion here>. We are working on resolving this issue.

Something to consider: What product works with every other product ever released? Buy an aftermarket exhaust for your car, it may work after modification especially is a ‘cheap’ one is used... Not every STB (cable/sat box) is the same, not every AVR (receiver)
is the same, not every modem, gateway, router is the same, ISP’s and TV providers use different format encoding. All that and it works for way more people than it does not work for. That aside, a majority of these issues would be resolved by simple troubleshooting,
but it does not happen that way. Many people try something, but may look in the wrong direction (which is why I am here). I always ask for this:

1. Make & Model of STB (cable/sat box)

2. TV Provider

3. Layout (example: STB HDMI Xbox One HDMI TV) (please note splitters and hubs).

Plus, one addition of HDMI 2.0 cable (HDMI cables are different, and I will not debate this)

I am just trying to show a little perspective. It is not magic, it takes hard work. TV portion was ambitious and by all measurable accounts, successful. For others, I only ask to be willing to troubleshoot and provide info. Considering how much time I use
on these forums, I wish everyone saw it like I do (bias as I am) but willing to help as long as I can.
