disc xbox 360 games on xbox one

im not sure if this tread exists elsewhere on the forums, so please inform if so. my question is playing games that i have on disc's for 360 , on the XBone. since im pretty sure that some games i like to play on the 360 aren't going to get re-released for
the one, specifically CoD 2, if i want to be able to play them on the one, will i be able to re-download them, or have to pay for them again?

Minecraft Xbox One

hi

my son has been playing minecraft, saint row, far cry 4 etc in Xbox 360. is it possible to transfer the games to xbox one? minecraft is an online purchase. rest all the discs we bought from Game.

he doesnt want to upgrade to xbox one but ofcourse we are missing out the new features of xbox one and xbox 360 is getting out dated fast and would value for nothing soon.. ihave few consoles left like that and lying in the garage.. (ps2, xbox, psp etc)..

any advice on transferring the games would be helpful for me to decide on xbox one..

Xbox 360 games on One without 360

I currently have an xbox one but I do not own an xbox 360 or any xbox 360 disc games. But i have xbox live Gold that gives me free games including xbox 360 games. I also bought the fallout 4 disc which includes fallout 3 for xbox 360. I was wondering of
i can still play these xbox 360 games on my xbox one because currently, I don’t know how or maybe i just need to buy an xbox 360 for me in order to play these xbox 360 games on my xbox one? Can someone please help?

The Xbox One can't play Xbox 360 games. It uses a different architecture, so it won't even play XBLA games. The only options are to either keep your 360 around or to buy an Xbox One version of a game if one is available.

It's not the discs it's your console. If your console can not read DVD movies then it won't read Xbox 360 games either. DVD movie discs use the same type of discs that 360 games use (DVD-9).

The Xbox One has two lasers to read discs. One for Blu-rays - which Xbox One discs games are made of - and one for reading DVD's and Xbox 360 games.

Xbox one games are blu ray discs and can not be played on the xbox 360. No Xbox one games can be played on the xbox 360, also.

The compatibility for discs and games only works backwards, not forwards. Xbox One discs can be played on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 discs (being the older console) can be played on the Xbox One and the Xbox 360, Xbox discs (being the oldest console) can be
played on all three consoles. The Xbox One is currently the newest console that is out, and therefore, its games only works on its system.

Past that, you'll have to get the right disc to play on the Xbox 360... it should say Xbox 360 on the case and the disc for the game.

Have had a quick look at my 3 disc games (one Xbox One, 2 Xbox 360) and, yes, the XB1 disc has 2 rings there.

However, on the picture side of the disc, there is a silver ring around the hole...on Xbox 360 games, you will see XBox 360 in the Silver area or Xbox One depending on the platform

Do other BC Xbox 360 game discs work on your Xbox One? For the Xbox One to recognise the game and download it from Live it must:

Be able to read the disc. Check if the disc is dirty or damaged
Have a working Optical drive capable of reading Xbox 360 discs. Try other BC discs or test a DVD movie.

The Xbox One has two diodes for reading discs in the optical Blu-ray Drive. A red laser is used to read Xbox 360 and DVD movies and a blue laser to read Xbox One games and Blu-ray movies. If the diode for reading DVD's is faulty, BC Xbox 360 discs won't
work.
