Disc will allow access to games once installed but pauses during installation/fails to intal

When the disc is inserted into the console, the game, specifically Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare is unable to install. However, on other consoles with the game previously installed the disc allows for the game to be played. Is there a method to download
a game as if you had inserted the disc via a network, or any other alternatives?

How to install a game to your Xbox 360 hard drive

You can play a game directly from the game disc without installing it to your hard drive. But you can also install it to improve load times and minimize game disc access.

Installation Process:

• First, you need to insert the game disc into your disc drive. The game will start as the default option is to automatically start the game. If the game starts, you’ll have to exit the game, and get back to the Xbox Dashboard.
• You need to go to Home and highlight the game you want to install with your controller.
• Press X on your controller and select Install to Hard Drive.

You’ll see a progress indicator while your game is being installed to your hard drive. The installation might take up to 12 minutes.

Notes:

• Your hard drive must have sufficient free disc space as installing a game requires between 4 and 8 gigabytes of free disc space.
• You also need to have the game disc to start the game once you have installed it on your hard drive. But the benefits are that installing games on your hard drive minimizes game disc access and reduces load times.
• You are not allowed to install Original Xbox games on your Xbox 360 hard drive.

 

Playing games pre release no more?

Very good point on the influx of users at once, I could see this being a good reason why they wouldn't do it.

I think with digital distribution they will allow pre loading and obviously depending on if they do lock out physical copies or not they will allow you to at least install the disc before release, but even then they have said you can play while the disc installs so there wouldn't be much point pre installing other than to get it out the way.

 

Sorry to hear it. If the disc is not installing then try taking the console offline for the install. It's possible that game updates are preventing the install from completing.

If the console is not reading the disc at all then perhaps it is in need of a repair.
