    Disc Reading Malfunction/ Possible need for Warranty


    My Xbox will not read discs anymore, this happened contrary to one of my discs becoming stuck within the interior of the disc reader, so I attempted the paper clip method; now my Xbox One won't read discs. This occurred the day after I bought the next genelation
    Grand Theft Auto and I'm incredibly stressed being a mildly autistic sixteen year old. I'm contemplating wether warranty would be an option, because I've owned this xbox for almost six months. If I can't receive downloadable copies of the four games I play,
    which I assume GameStop would take a massive *** on my ambitions, then what do I do? Can someone help me?

    New Xbox 360 Scratching New Disc

    You need your xbox360 disc drive inspected for any malfunction. Seems like the disc tray needs a repair ASAP and best to send it in to Microsoft. Scratches/Laser burns are typical for the Xbox360.

    Xbox 360 controller analog sticks seems 'pushed in'

    If it continues to malfunction then you will probably need to replace it. If it is under warranty you will need send it to
    Xbox One Support | Xbox 360 Support | Xbox Live and Billing Support for a repair/replacement but if not under warranty a replacement will probably be your less expensive and faster solution. Happy Gaming!

    Sorry to hear about the disc drive issue! If the disc drive no long accepts discs, try the steps listed in our

    Xbox One Disc Troubleshooter    , which will have you change the power setting. If that does not help I strongly recommend getting the Xbox One repaired. You start this process by contacting our phone support agents through our

    The problem is that the disc tray wont CLOSE. This is a malfunctioned disc drive and will need to be sent in for repairs. Luckily, its still under warranty so just follow I KangeNoRyu I's link to the repair process.

    Hello Tazz,

    Sorry for the issue with discs not being read. It could be possible that the disc drive is malfunctioning. If you have done all that the others posted and still having an issue. You can always check your warranty status at

    device support    . Also after you register the console you can set up a repair on the same website. If the console is not in warranty it usually costs between 120-160 USD for a repair.

    Disc drive opens and closes as if button is stuck

    Its a strong possibility that if the disc drive tray opens at will there is a malfunction and i suggest you get it replaced. Since your still under a 1 year warranty you shouldn't have to pay for any part repairs. I hope this helps you.

    Hi,

    Can you confirm if your console can read DVD discs?

    Xbox 360 games are on DVD and Xbox One games are on Blu-Ray. The Xbox One's Blu-ray drive has a separate laser to read DVD's, if it has malfunctioned, Xbox 360 games can't be read and the digital download for BC games won't start.

    To test this out, try playing a DVD movie disc. In all likelihood these films won't play and that will confirm drive malfunction. If this is the case you'll need your console repaired/replaced.
