    Disc reader Xbox One S


    So i got an Xbox One S 4 days ago. I bought Red Dead Redemption to play on retrocompatibility. When i insert the disc or any other, the reader start working, but then it kind of "shuts down" and stop reading the disc. For example if i insert a bluray disc
    and open the app it freezes on loading screen and the same happens: the reader start reading, but doesnt finish it. I dont know if that means that the Xbox reader is broken or it´s just some software problem.

    Fixing the disc drive reader?

    My xbox has not been reading any discs, so I can't play games or watch movies. I took apart the Xbox to move the reader forward because it was stuck. It worked for a day, but now it is back to not working properly. Should I buy a new reader or replace the box with the disc drive in it?

    Heya!

    Very sorry to hear about the issues with your console reading discs.

    We have a few things we can try for troubleshooting. Let's have you run through the following steps:

    • Uninstall the Blu-ray app,

      power cycle the console       and reinstall.
    • Ensure that the console is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a power strip, surge protector, or extension cord of any kind.
    • Test the discs you have tested on another console.
    • Soft factory reset the console by choosing "Keep my games and apps".

    Xbox1s discless how do I play disc games?

    I have seen 1 method be done but it only works if you have another Xbox one with a disc reader. Connect the Xbox with the disc reader to hdmi output then you would need to connect the other end of the hdmi to the pass through hdmi port on your Discless Xbox
    one S and connect the Discless Xbox one S to the tv.

    (I know it’s dumb but unfortunately it’s the only way i know)

    If the disc have the legend that it's for Xbox One, it will work on any Xbox one console (Xbox one fat/Xbox one S or Xbox one X) what could be the issue is that the console he has is a Xbox one S digital edition that doesn't have a disc reader, but that won't be because is incompatible, just unable to use a disc game

    Is there a way to load discs in without putting one disc in at a time?

    I think the answer here is No. Not 100% sure on the question though.

    Are you asking is there a way to "stack" more than one disc in the reader? The Xbox only has the one disc reader and it only holds one disc at a time.

    Are you thinking of connecting an external disc reader on USB and hoping to queue things that way? Don't know that will work based on drivers being needed.
