    Hi

    I have an Xbox 360 S, it seems to be making a whirring sound when playing a disc. It plays for a while - say 15 minutes then the screen turns to a dark blue or green with thin stripes over the screen. I think I have a problem with the disc drive/disc reader.

    This Xbox hasn't been in use for a good while so I was hoping to figure out what is wrong and try to fix it. Please don't say bin it. It has a lot of sentimental value so I'd appreciate helpful replies.

    Hello Cheryl,

    Thank you for replying back. Just to clarify, you are not having a disc reading issue but a display issue when playing any games? If so, have you tried to reset your Power Supply Unit? Is the PSU in a well ventilated area? For more info on the Xbox

    @XBF Ruben D: this is an Xbox 360 S console issue, not an Xbox One console.

    As for the error itself, that doesn't sound like a DVD drive issue. It sounds like a graphics hardware problem. I could go into more technical details, but suffice to say, it's not something you can likely fix yourself.

    Try a different HDMI cable and perhaps another TV. But if the issue persists, and persists on all games, you'll need a replacement console. Microsoft no longer services the 360 consoles for repair.

    Hi thanks for that advice

    I followed the instructions but it isn't what I'm experiencing.

    The disc plays, I get no error message on the screen but the screen freezes over a dark blue or dark green with thin stripes across the screen and I cant access any instructions or do anything other than press the on off switch.

    Have you any other ideas?
