Disc reader broken. Can i play download games?

Hi,

So i have had my xbox one for about 1 month and now the disc reading thing has broken (it makes a high pitch sound and won't play). so i only got it to play halo 5 and the remastered halo collection. I am wondering if I can just buy the downloadable versions
of these games and bypass the need for the disc reader (can't be bothered getting a replacement or refund). will this work? Thank you all

I was playing... but i can only play if i host because my disc is broken ( it says not able to read if i dont !

 

Fixing the disc drive reader?

My xbox has not been reading any discs, so I can't play games or watch movies. I took apart the Xbox to move the reader forward because it was stuck. It worked for a day, but now it is back to not working properly. Should I buy a new reader or replace the box with the disc drive in it?

 

Yes,the digital versions will work fine but why wouldn't you want your console replaced or repaired?

 

If I had a Xbox One that broke after a month I would have already returned it from where I purchased it and had it replaced. Nothing to think about...

 

Yes, they will work fine when you purchase digital copies of games.

If that's really the only problem it'll work. Don't get why you don't get it repaired or replaced though
