    disc read error, what to do?


    So I have had my xbox one since early/mid december and the disc tray worked fine for the most part except for every once and a while and i just reinserted the disc and it worked so I thought nothing of it.

    .

    Now when i insert a disc a lot of time it makes a grinding noise and I have to insert the disc about 3-4 times before it works. I'm afraid that if I send my console in the people will test it and have it to work right away and just send me it back so I have
    to sit here for a couple of weeks without a console just to get my flawed one back but is that what I should do at this time? I'd almost rather have to insert the disc 4 times most times than to sit without a console for that long if that's what I have to
    do.

    Resident Evil 5 on Xbox Live - Disc Read Error

    so i just recently purchased Resident Evil 5 on Xbox Live and when i went to go play it after waiting that long time for it to download... some of it reads as follow "DISC READ ERROR" like for instance The Mercenaries Reunion mode... can't veiw figures...
    i mean i felt i got cheated when i cant get the full game that i purchased and it reads Disc Read Error... what disc?... there is no disc but a downloaded game... im am not satisfied and felt kinda upset whenever the "Disc Reads Error" pops up... Please explain
    to me what disc when i purchased it for Xbox Live On Demand games? thanks ...

    I just started having this issue too disc read error, what to do? :( Worked imaculately since launch day. Last night, Forza wouldn't show in the "disc" tile. SO i took it out and put it back in, and now hear a grinding noise. So i have to try putting it in a couple times before it loads,
    and every once in a while i hear a grind.

    While not an official method of repair, I had this same issue, and found a video on YouTube where its mentioned that the grinding is due to a misaligned gear on the bluray drive...to remedy it, all i had to do was unplug everything, turn the console over
    and slap the underside of the bluray drive...this located the gear again and I've had no trouble since

    Unreadable MW3 dic

    An update would not cause your disc to become unreadable. If you are getting a disc read error, try your game out in another Xbox. If it still has a disc read error, then it is the disc itself. If it works fine in another Xbox, then it is your console.
    Disc read errors are a physical issues, not a software issue. I work for Activision CS and deal with issues like this on a daily basis. Let me know if you need to get your disc replaced and I can explain exactly what you should do.
