Disc Read Error - Update - Hard Drive Unformatted

I have no idea what's going on. I don't even know who I am anymore.

Today I was playing destiny multiplayer. (360 S)

- Disc Read error mid play.

- Remove disc, Power cycle console, replace disc.

- Prompted for Xbox live update. Accept.

- Prompted not enough space. Cancel.

- Proceed to System Settings>Storage (To make space).

- Storage Device is "Unformatted".

- Select Format> Format the HD.

- Storage device is "Unformatted".

Have attempted to format the HDD 3 times, and run initial set up. Clear Cache was never an option (greyed out). My profiles were all missing from the console before I ever formatted. Have attempted multiple power cycles including with no disc in the console.

Please advise.

Xbox won't reformat

hi, so I am aware that everyone is having issues from the new updates but so far I haven't seen the solution to mine. I update the xbox a little while ago (October?) and the hard drive has since read "unformatted". I have the original s consol with the 4g
internal hard drive, that is it. I had a flash drive plugged in the xbox during the update and since then it will only read the flash drive as the hard drive. I cannot use the xbox without the flash drive plugged in. I have followed the processe Microsoft
gives you to reformat the hard drive and it continues to read unformatted. Help please!

- Yes hard drive was completely removed and USB good to use with xbox.

- My internal hard drive shows as unformatted, i tried to format it but it keeps saying unformatted.

- I did Restore network settings to factory defaults.

- router was reset.

- UPnP is enabled

- and when i try to download the update from USB it starts to extract and then about 90% it starts to update and shows error : 4174 - 417F - 1600 - 267F - C000 - 0185. but when I try with the CD its says the content unreadable and clean the Disc (Its new
disc)

 

Sorry to hear it. You say you were prompted for an update. Are you in the preview program?

I have no idea what the preview program is. So no. Probably why I get 'Group Not Found' when I click that link.

Update:

I booted my console without an internet connection and was able to successfully format my HDD.

But then:

- Prompted to download the XBL update immediately after regaining internet connection, not even signed into a profile.

- Receive Download status bar that has not progressed at all, has remained empty, for over 10 minutes at this point.

 

Update:

I restarted the console and accepted the update prompt from immediately after startup.

- Received the error code "42FE - 0000 - 3080 - 0502 - 8007 - 0468

- Searched the error code in the error code search on this site.

- Searched whole code with, without spaces, and the last 4 digits without space.

- Came back Error code not found.

I'm getting really upset.

 

Sorry to hear it. It sounds as though there's a possibility that your console is in need of repair. However, try the steps listed in this thread before contacting support. Be sure to pay attention to Miss Portia's suggestion before trying anything else.
