I'm afraid I have to agree with it's burst axe on this one. A full game is a matter of perspective. Could I honestly say that battlefield 4 was a full game at release when I know full well that to have the full game I will have to buy all the dlc that I
know will come out. Can we then call battlefield half a game on release. If that is the case then these days 95% of games are only half a product at release. Whether you agree with the way it is or not, it is what it is and the only choice you have is to not
purchase said product. And no offence randver but the car analogy is very stupid. Can I still play destiny? Yes I can. If your analogy was the same for both then I would get the disc (the car) and not be able to turn it on until they let me (had the wheels).
Not the case here. Perhaps there is t as much content as you would like but it certainly isnt half a product.

@Dufful

Now you just changed the topic.

A game that releases and then provides DLC over the next 12 months that was in development when the game was released is different. Yes, in the end we may have only received half the content at launch but I see the additional content as just that to provide
longevity to the game.

Having the majority of that content available at launch and then giving it to us piecemeal for an additional cost over the same 12 month period is completely different.

I guess at the end of the day that I am just shocked that anyone in this day and age is surprised at any of this. When we are getting day one DLC and premium packs before games even release and bonuses for pre orderering. This happens with every game and
garanteed most of the time, that early stuff is already in the disc. It just seems that people are attacking bungie because they expected more because of halo. I'm shocked that people are so shocked!

I just got an ad from Amazon for the new Dragon Age. 70 bucks for the limited edition which includes DLC day one armor, weapon and mount. Last gen that DLC would have been included just a pre-order bonus, now it's 10 bucks.

The day of 60 dollar games (US price) has ended. Thy can give it to us however they like but the reality is AAA games now cost 80 to 100 bucks.

Come live in Australia. I've seen day one limited edition for $120. It truely is out of control. The problem is that either you keep paying or stop playing! There is now no alternative!

There is an alternative if you have the mindset for it. I can walk away from the next gen AAA titles today and play a good 16bit/retro/2D style RPG or platformer and be a happy gamer.

The people that don't believe that even the last gen console games are worth playing anymore are in for a world of hurt on their pocketbooks.

These statements made me think... I recall watching a documentary video that was in the E3 coverage (streaming to my X1). It basically covered the process used by 2K Games in order
to put together their E3 video presentation for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. There was a statement made by one of the higher ups in the company that stuck out in my mind.

"The video gaming industry generates more revenue than the movie industry does." <Let's just think about that for a moment.

I also recall reading an article (wish I could recall where) about the GOW series and it speculated where the series may be headed after Cliff B. retired. It also happened to mention
that he retired at the ripe old age (I suppose for gaming maybe) of 37... if memory serves. Apparently he just decided to take some time off (think he got married or something) and re-center for awhile before he decided what to do next.

So just to put some perspective to it... is it really any surprise that the days of a straight up $60 game are gone? Is it any surprise that half of the DLC content is already
on the disc waiting to be unlocked, while all the devs have to do is add a few finishing touches to it and charge an additional $20 for that and a key to unlock it? Is it a big shock that they do it not once, but 2 or 3 times for each game?

It's a perfect lure IMO. Sounds pretty good to new gamers (and their parents for the younger ones) and even some of the more seasoned ones, when they see that the price for a new
game is (and has been for a long time) 'only' $60.

Now DGMW, I understand and respect that the devs deserve to get paid for all their hard work. But, when I see some posts in these forums stating how those of us who are more careful
with our own hard earned money shouldn't be complaining... or that used game sales are going to ruin the industry... or even better yet, they try to make those of us who buy used, trade, rent, etc. feel guilty and shame us by saying 'you should support the
devs'... yeah, sometimes I almost pmsl. Those poor devs... if things get much worse for them, they might end up having to live out of their BMW's!

DLC is one thing even if it is to make the game "complete" at a different date. we kind of all expect that now, but when it's locked away on the disc that we paid for than that's a whole new ballgame. They should have kept off the disc if they didn't want
us to know it was there, but they didn't and that's wrong.

^^Exactly. I couldn't have said it any better.

@Burst I think everyone has a right to say what a completed game is. We all may have a different version of course but Destiny in no way is completed as sold.

@Dufful your use of BF4 isn't a great one. I played tons of BF4 and didn't buy one piece of DLC because it already had a good portion of content that I got my monies worth. Destiny has a miniscule amount compared to BF4 and even Call of Duty.

I believe Bungie botched Destiny because they tried to make the game into a groundbreaking new FPS. And besides the gunplay in the game they do nothing outstanding. Took a month to fix the loot...took two months to fix the raid boss(and the final boss fight
is still broke to an extent)They *** up the Iron Banner, they have a cool game mode in Salvage which is only playable when they say so. But at least the game is 1080p and looks good.

10. Hello everyone Disc Locked Content :)

Ok, just so everyone knows I didn't feel like reading through 4 pages of postings, but here are my thoughts regarding the matter of " Disc Locked DLC ".

Youtube users have posted that there is definitely DLC game content for both expansions on the disc already by venturing into the Raid Areas of the both expansion DLCs of Destiny.

Now here is the question that this issue raises, since the Raid Areas are already in the disc; does that mean that these Raid Areas were pulled from the original game before launch or were they only partially completed?

Personally, I believe that the DLC stuff in the disc were pulled from the game (I really hope that I am wrong in this assumption) as here is what I believe happend and why we have the game version that we have now for Destiny.

..........

Bungie = Alright, we finished Destiny and it is ready to be played by the gamers

Activision = Okay, now I want you to rip these two from the completed game so that we can sell them individually as DLC. But wait, why stop there when we can offer a Season Pass for Expansion 1 & 2.

Bungie = That's not right, you shouldn't do that.

Activision = Too bad, so sad because it is happening. This conversation is over.

..........

Have a nice day or afternoon or night everyone Disc Locked Content :)

Bioware has explained how DLC works in the past. DLC is not completed pre-launch. While it's started pre-launch, it's completed post-launch. It allows developers to continue working instead of being laid off between finishing their piece of the main title
and when the DLC is slated to ship.

While assets may be on the disc, they're not complete nor are they complete storylines/quests. If you don't believe this to be true, don't buy the game. The other 9+ million of us are too busy having fun with Destiny to care about a few people whining about
an extra $30-$35.

I think you've got that backwards. It's a few people that are enjoying Destiny and the vast majority that are disappointed. I can provide links if you like.......
I can provide links if you like.......
Activision provided all the proof of Destiny's success in their latest financial report. As no one but Bungie (and by extension, Activision) have access to detailed player reporting, there's
no source to refute their report.

Sales don't equal satisfied customers.

And like you stated.....current players can't be refuted because only the developers and publishers have access to them. I certainly wouldn't tell anyone that my game was tanking with a 10 yr plan already promised.

Go to any gaming forum (even this one ) and look at the complaints, they far out weigh the people defending the game.

The people enjoying Destiny are... enjoying Destiny. We're not wasting time "defending" a title, we're playing it. I clock 3hrs a night on Destiny and more on the weekends. I'm not going to waste Destiny time trying to convince others that their dislike
of the game is "wrong" when I could instead be playing Destiny.

Activision is a publically traded company. They cannot overhype Destiny's success in an earnings call as that would be fraud. Bungie has the numbers to show how well Destiny is doing. Those numbers must be decent for Activision or they wouldn't figure prominently
in the earnings report.
