    Hello,

    I just purchased Halo 5 and Rock Band 4 on disc and my day one console has started grinding and not reading the discs. I called MS and they said it would be over $100 to fix, but this seems to be a very widespread issue with launch consoles. Does anyone
    have other suggestions?

    Disappointed with xbox support.

    Well my replacement box disc drive is grinding noise and wont read now and because of the ticket not being closed im not in the same boat as you

    Day One Xbox One Issues

    I have an Xbox One Day One Console. Even though problems arose for this first gen console, mine seemed fine. As I played the console more it started showing signs of problems. I would put a disc in and I would get an error message to put in a Xbox one
    game disc in. Now it makes a grinding noise and won't read the disc. Why is it that you have to pay $115.00 to return your console for repairs if the problem isn't your fault? They give you a warranty but, the warranty expired before the problem came up.
    Knowing that the consoles had problems, Microsoft should of recalled or replaced all Day One Editions for free. I now have a Day One Edition just sitting here, not being repaired or enjoyed.

    This is not a Grinding noise fix, again i am sorry i wasn't clear enough this fix is for when your Disc is not reading on the Console, the Grinding fix i can be 80% sure with you it usually has something to with your XBOX ONE not being leveled if not it's
    because your XBOX ONE just leave a disc inside of it for like 10 minutes and it should be fix btw make sure it's a disc you don't care about to be on the safe side.

    what about when you have to send your entire console for replacement what then...Andrew. Its the principle of it and the fact quality is no longer an option for anyone. Grinding disc drives not reading disc's. Didn't we get the whole drive thing figured
    out in the floppy days. So many people have this issue and was on phone all night. Point being the horse we are betting on is blind and if this is as wide spread as I think it is, doesn't help the future of our console.

    Call of Duty Ghosts will not play on launch, shipped-to-home, Xbox One console.

    So I ended up RMA'ing the original console which was super great given that I had come home for Thanksgiving break looking forward to playing.

    The RMA'd console is alright. It also has troubles reading discs (grinding noises, need to remove and re-instert the disc multiple times before the drive starts reading it, etc.) so I think this is just something with manufacturing and the types of drives
    that were used on the Day One consoles. My room-mate also has a Day One console and his has interesting problems too - nothing with the blu-ray drive, but the console starts up at random parts throughout the day with no intervention.

    Either case, the Day One Xbox's were more trouble than they were worth.
