Disc getting stuck halfway / Clearing persistent storage

Two months ago my console would randomly only take the discs halfway into the drive and then stop. I had to carefully pull the disc out and perform a restart in order for it to work again. I contacted support who suggested clearing the blu ray persistent
storage 3 times, which I did, and it had been fine since.

Last weekend the same things happened, I cleared the storage once (I forgot you had to do it 3 times) and over the course of the weekend it would sporadically do the same thing. I contacted customer support, who reminded me to do it 3 times, and so far it's
been ok again.

So I have a few questions:

1- Have any other people had this issue?

2-Is clearing the storage 3 times a genuine fix or a weird coincidence?

3-If it is fixing it, what is it actually doing to fix it?

4-Is there a long term fix coming out or is it going to be a case of clearing the storage 3 times when it stops working again?

Xbox One Not Loading Games

My xbox one was starting up games just fine but would not load the games main menu. It appeared to be stuck while loading hard drive data. I resolved the issue promptly by clearing persistent storage. Settings>Disc and bluray>persistent storage>Clear. *Make sure to clear storage 3 times. Then, just unplug your xbox from the wall for 3 min. Works like a charm. That way you are not restoring your device.

 

Blu-Ray Error Code 0002 "Needs Update"

I would suggest clearing persistent storage. Go to setting/disc and Blu-ray/ clear persistent storage

 

Definitely an interesting issue. I don't believe clearing the persistent storage would fix the issue permanently. It does sound like an issue with the drive motor. You should consider setting up a warranty repair.

They did say if it happens again to sort out an exchange - but chances are it will be a refurb I get back, and the Kinect refurb I got before was clearly used (grubby/scratched) so I'm hoping I don't need to go down that route - although it's reassuring
it's an option.

If it was motor it seems strange that both times the suggested fix did stop it happening? I wonder if it's firmware related?

 

Started happening again today, so have arranged a replacement. Seems like it may have just been a coincidence rather than a fix.
