Disc drive stopped working after very little use

I feel for you, believe me I do. I have 2 kids with one ex wife, and 1 kid with another. I have been villianized to the point my kids have no true love or respect for me, they only see me as someone who owes them and the only use they have for me is what
they can take from me. Its a miserable feeling. In recent years I have been stuck on disability and unable to afford as much as I once did, which has in fact impacted how much I have gotten to see them since their only desire to see me now seems to be tied
to what they can receive from me. I wish I could tell you it gets easier, but it does not. My ex took a life insurance policy out on me, then tried to poison me, then while I struggled with my health hid from me for almost 8 years as she brain washed my daughter
and told the courts I abandoned them. She even got her hands in my disability, something she caused...and never suffered a single consequence. It doesnt get better, but it doesnt mean we stop trying.

As far as your console goes, I can tell you that I still have an original model here and the disc drive works fine. I have the first release slim model here, and it also works fine. I now also have a 1x model which I have given hell for over a year, and
it too works fine. I dont think there is a rampant issue with drive failure as much as I think that any electronic mass produced has a chance at failure. This is called the Silicone Lottery, and it seems you were unlucky in this. If you follow the advice of
the gentlemen above, you can place a service call for your console. If you are out of warranty, this could be pricey. However, while I cannot confirm this, I have heard that some people using the new slim lines without disc drives have used plug and play blu
ray drives successfully. Also, if you are electronic savvy, since you are already out of warranty, you could simply compare your serial number to the part that has gone bad and order it, then replace it yourself. I have fixed many of PS3 and Xbox 360's in
my time. As long as the drive is one entire plug and play piece and not multiple parts enslaved together like the later ps3 models did, you should just be removing screws and unplugging one part, then plugging in a new one and reinserting said screws. There
are vids you can look into for such repairs if you have the DIY spirit.

Also, although some may have experienced satisfactory results after trying self-repair, Microsoft does not support it and it is not allowed to be discussed on the Forums as per the

As far as I am aware you actually don't need the extended warranty/"insurance" on the console in order to send it off for repairs and servicing. Doing some searches I did find that the original link to warranty and service page has been replaced by a new
on here: https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/warranty-service/getting-your-product-serviced

That link should contain all the proper information you need and, you will be charged a service fee if the damage the console is experiencing isn't covered under warranty or if the warranty is expired. Which I believe the manufacturer's warranty is somewhere
between 90 days and 120 days, so you probably will have to pay the fee. That page should have drop-down bars that tell you the correct steps to follow.

Also, you should call around your local area for any licensed electronic repair or electronic and video game hobby stores that may be able to do repairs and servicing closer to home and safely without breaking warranty or consumer-manufacturer agreements.

Probably right, the disc stops a little while after the disc loads because the game is then running from the HDD, if you don't have the game installed to the HDD the disc won't stop spinning, either way will work. It's the disc stopping that causes the problem.
