Disc drive sometimes won't recognize any disc

Sometimes when I start up my system for the day/night, it won't recognize the disc thats in there.

When I eject it and close the drive again. 99.9%of the time, that fixes it.

Is this something that could potentially make me need to replace the disc drive?

(I bought my system from Ebay used, so it's understandable it's going to have at least a few minor issues)

    :)

XBox One disc goes back into console on ejection

I've had issues with my disc drive from day one, unfortunately. Sometimes I can put a disc in and it reads it fine, other times I have to insert and eject the disc ten times before it finally recognizes it. =/

  3. Xbox one power on and disc eject issues

    Hi, thanks for reply.

I bought it pre-owned from a store. I think it possibly could be the internal drive. The other weird thing is sometimes it won't even boot with a disc in the drive. Just earlier I had been playing fifa from disc, gone back to the home menu, ejected the
disc normally and placed in Halo MCC. It was as if the console did not recognize the new disc, so I restarted the console and it hung on splash screen. No errors, just the xbox logo like an infinite loop. I ejected the disc while it was "hanging" and it booted
normally. I put Halo MCC in after boot and game runs. External drive had been formatted with xbox, most games are stored on external hard drive. It's like the dvd/bluray drive and external usb attachments interrupt the bootup of the internal hard drive. I
haven't had any issues with the hdd reading/writing. Never had any errors or corrupt files. Hdd works normally with usb attachments after boot.

Sometimes a disc won't eject and/or fails to recognize newly inserted disc. Only solution is to reset and eject disk on startup.

It is very possible that the console drive is dying on you and may, in time, no longer work. This is one of the unfortunate issues with buying used.

If this is the case I would recommend purchasing a new console instead of trying self repair or getting someone outside of Microsoft to repair the console for you. That is not allowed and could result in the console either being unusable after the attempt
or, if successful, could result in the console being banned from the Live service for tampering.

I might get a new (well, refurbished) system from GameStop (with warranty) when 'Tax Time' rolls around, since I know I'll be getting a decent amount back then. And a few games from Ebay

Until that time, I'll have to live with the sometimes glitchy system I have right now. And now it seems like my computer monitor I use instead of a TV is going a little funny. But that's another thing for another time.

Trouble Transferring Games From Xbox 360 To Xbox Series S

Nope. For two reasons. The Series S won't recognize the games from an external drive and you need a license to play the games. Since they were purchased on disc, the disc has the license and would need to be in the disc drive to verify you own the game.
Since the Series S doesn't have a disc drive, the games have to be purchased digitally.
