Disc Drive not recognising disc nor working

Well, this just started for me, first the drive was stuck closed, and when I finally get it open, it refuses to even reocgnise that it got fixed, meaning that i hook everything back up and repower the system, then when the screen comes up, I click {using
controller} to open the tray. It says "Opening" on the screen. But nothing happens, no sounds of the system working to open the drive, nothing whatsoever. It is also not closing or opening on its own either, normally a gentle push will close it, and pressing
the button on the console or using the controller will pop it open, not nither will do it. It just sits there, on the screen it either says "Opening" or "Closing" the power light is also just blinking as if something is wrong.

Its an older model 360 Pro with a 20GB drive. I'm at the point where I am tempted to try trading it from what I have now, {after clearing out the system completely} and swapping for a new or similar system with the same drive; or just getting a new system
from the getgo.

The system is a refurb I must add.

Nothing I try in the support area is helpful aside from getting the tray open.

Advice on what to do is welcome, but I cannot do shipping due to time constraints

Hi there, my Xbox has been struggling for a while now to read games, normally it will work after a while of taking the disc out n putting it back in. However I just got quantum break delivered today but it's not even recognising the disc to start the installation process. After a couple of tries( ejecting the disc and putting it back in) it makes the sound as if it doesn't is about to work but it doesn't even recognise it. I got the Xbox three years ago and everything else works fine. As I mentioned it has had trouble reading discs for a while but now it's not even recognising the disc, I tried quantum break in my brothers Xbox and it worked perfect first time. I was wondering if this problem can be fixed by independent stores and roughly how much this would cost. Any replies will be appreciated.

Disc Drive App

For the love of god bring back the disc drive app so I can at least know if my Xbox is recognising a disc and it'll say on the dash if the disc is in the drive. Popping a disc in and out for hours is NOT fun and I can't just press the disc app to try again
if it isn't working.

I've had a day one Xbox and an Xbox one X both having issues where there are a few disc it won't read and not having that app makes it impossible to troubleshoot.

It's absolutely infuriating. Luckily the one x is in warranty so I'll have to send it back I guess but it's stupid not having the old disc app. Who made the decision to remove it? Sack them!

 

yeah sounds like the dvd drive is failing or has failed you have the option to get it fixed by MS for I THINK $99 bucks but to be honest you would be better getting a newer model and transferring your save data and stuff to the newer console.

 

So taking it up to gamestop and trading for a similar console {360 with 20GB drive} is doable yes ? What about my XBL ? Is that also transferable to another machine using the same gamertag ?

 

yes as long as you have the email and password for your game tag you can download it onto the system OR you can do what I did get a flash drive set it up for use on the 360 and just put it and your saves on it then plug the drive into the new system and
transfer that way it is a bit faster than downloading it off of the Live servers.

 

Alrighty, thanks much! I will try Gamestop tomorrow afternoon and see about a trade, last I knew, they trade game systems for game systems of equal or lesser price. I hope.
