    Disc Drive noise


    I know I posted the same thread before but now that someone on that thread had youtube link of a video of the noise I decided to do another post. Has anyone heard this noise that you can here in the video below. I just noticed after I had applied the new
    update. It did it like a minute or so after I put a game in. It will load and play the games fine its just making this strange noise. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard this same noise after applying the new update

    Disc drives malfunctioning in Xbox One units

    I just read an article that says Microsoft is acknowledging faulty disc drives in some Xbox One units. Some people are having a problem with the drive making a grinding noise and not reading the disc, so if you have this problem, you're not alone!

    I think the original Xbox was the loudest console I owned. Even then, I never minded the noise, really. What kind of noise are you guys talking about? Fans, disc drive, or general clicky noises from the hard drive?

    Mines started doing that...but only since the march update...i could be like the 360...needs to run the disc for a few seconds to check the disk is legit...ps3 makes that type of sound when playing games.

    Seems a lot of people have suddenly started having this issue after the March update.

    The noise starts around 1 minute after you put in a game disc and load the game up. The disc reading noise lasts around 10 seconds and is audible from a distance. There is no other noticeable problems and the games load up fine. If you dashboard and reload
    the game it does not happen, only after a disc is inserted and initially loaded. I've also noticed it only happens with game discs and not DVDs/Blu-Rays.

    It is strange that this issue has only been reported by users since the update, yet the general response you get from CS is that the update was for software and did not affect hardware.

    CD Drive Noise?

    You'll never have a 100% silent disc drive when it is reading data from the disc. As long as it is still reading/detecting the disc fine and not a loud grinding noise, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Hmm, a clicking noise...could be the hard drive.

    It could just be the motor in the disc drive is getting older. I have an Elite model and it started to make noises like you described, but they eventually stopped. If it isn't hurting discs then it is probably just the motor in the drive making noise.

    What do you mean by "ventilation noise"? Can you describe it with a little more detail?

    The only thing you should hear is the system fan whirring, the hard drive making spinny/clicky noises, and the disc drive spinning the disc.

    Yes some DVD drives are like that, and is perfectly normal, if you want to cut down the noise, then if you have a xbox 360 hard drive installed, you can install the games and that will help cut down the noise, as the game will play from the hard drive instead
    of the disc.(You will still need the disc in the drive to play though).
