Disc drive makes loud noise (from time to time)

Well it happens from time to time. If I insert games, Blu Rays or DVDs the disc drives makes loud noise like scratiching the disc (the discs are ok). But at least the xbox will read them. But also from time to time it does not detect any disc inside.

This happens just from time to time. After shutting of the System for about an hour it usually works again. Is this maybe related to a Software/Firmware problem. I don't want to send the xbox in, if it isn't absolutly necessary.

I've got the day one edition and it was working perfectly until ~1 month ago than this problem started to occur.

My 360 made noise and froze all the time. I bought a cooling fan. No problems now.

so i have a game disc and it is a bit "dirty." i always do an install test to see if the game will work. it installed 100% with no problem. was quite loud the entire time too... but after the install, my xbox 360 continued to be super loud.

i got a quieter Slim model, not the super slim, just the regular slim. not sure if it is the disc drive or what. tested a few game discs and there is no noise. just with this game. just sitting in the disc drive on the dashboard and it buzzes loudly. cleaned off the disc with a dry cloth and still loud. havent actually played it yet (Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, a rental), and have no doubts it will play. but if i can do something about that noise, that would be preferable. thanks.

 

expect to send it in soon to replace the bluray drive. I was in the same situation with the bluray drive being fine for a while, and it being an every now and then problem, but then it became permanent.

It sucks but what can you do?
