Disc Drive Issue On Xbox One

Hello, today my game would not eject from my xbox one. I have had this problem once before. This is the second time that this has happened and I would like to know if I will need to try and get a replacement xbox or what I should do.

Microsoft giving free digital games for users with broken disc drives

Okay, this is pretty great of Microsoft. A small number of users are having issues with their disc drive grinding, essentially rendering users with a broken Xbox One. Kotaku is reporting that they are aware of the issue and are giving affected users a free digital game that they can play while waiting for their new Xbox One replacement to arrive...and to of course keep forever. Hmmm...I wonder if they'll give us something for our broken Kinect that we are having replaced??I'm guessing not. Darn.

Seriously though, this is a great move for Microsoft. They're definitely doing the right thing for their gamers! If this has happened to you, don't return it to the retailer that you bought it at. Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX to get in touch with Microsoft to get your free game and a replacement on the way.

Well, Microsoft is doing something at least. This is a great compensation for the new Xbox One owners out there still having the disc drive issues. Now at least with the free game choices (like Dead Rising 3 --- yes!) they should have something to occupy their time while the disc drive problem gets the solution.

If it continues to happen regularly you definitely want to get it repaired. However, try doing a hard reset on the console. Hold the power button on the front of the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Then unplug the power
cable from the back of the console for 5 minutes then plug everything back up and power it on and test it out. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck!

Hi there,

By the looks of it the Xbox 360 disc drive may be going bad based on the testing you have done. If it works on the Xbox One I don't see how it would be a disc issue.

What do you mean by "regular" 360 discs that are detected fine by the 360?

Either way if the same disc is read by the Xbox One then I believe the issue lies with the disc drive in the Xbox 360.

Sounds like the laser in your console's Blu-ray drive has a hardware issue.

To test if your Xbox One X has issues reading discs, try playing a DVD movie disc. If can't read DVD movie discs either then your console has a hardware fault.

Note: It must be a DVD movie disc, not a Blu-ray movie disc.

There are two lasers in the Blu-ray drive, one for reading Blu-ray discs and one for DVD discs. Xbox One games use Blu-ray and the 360 console used a DVD drive.

Clear your cache in settings under blu ray?

Its not the disc drive I have xbox one game disc that work fine.
