    Disc drive instant opens


    Hi guys,The console (Xbox 360) slim of my brother instantly opens the disk drive and the on/of button is flashing all the time.

    What shall i do now? Is it repairable?

    Will you buy the disk or go digital?

    What is the cut of date with Forza? Also If you have a disc based version can you not instant switch to it even if the disc is in the drive?

    I have done a good bit of research on this topic, and it seems that a lot of people have come to the conclusion that the console may be shorting out, this could cause the console to think the disc tray is constantly opening and closing.

    You could try opening and closing the disc tray and see if the flashing subsides, or you could also unplug the power supply from the wall, plug it back in and turn the console back on.

    If none of this works, you can fill out a repair service request at this link:

    support.xbox.com/.../repair-process     .

    Sorry this has happened to you, I hope you can get the issue resolved in an orderly manner.

    Xbox one x revving

    Mine only does it when i play disc game! its quiet then a few minutes in it revs up the disc drive really fast,it is not the fan it is disc drive! my console has been hot while off in instant on mode to i heard the fan making a little noise when off as well!

    Hi Painerman,

    Thank you for coming to the forums. This is normal for the Xbox to do overnight in Instant-On mode. The Xbox when turned off still draws power to connect to your Network and check for updates on games and apps and even system updates. The only thing that
    should be audible is the operating system turning on the hard drive on to check for updates but the disc drive should not be spinning any disc inside when the Xbox if off. External hard drives will also stay powered in Instant-On mode to also check for updates.
    You can select a setting to turn off storage when your Xbox turns off found under Power & startup settings.

    Do you have your console set to Instant-On mode?
