disc drive grinding

Woke up this morning to find that my disc drive was making a terrible grinding noise in my 2 month old white console, in which it's shredded my copy of Destiny to bits.

Called Microsoft support and was astounded at how unhelpful and unapologetic they were to me, constantly referring me to my retailer. From my perspective it's not the retailers problem but Microsofts extremely dodgy hardware that is, they offered no support
or solution only a reference number as proof of call. It has only bolstered my opinion that Microsoft couldn't give a F**k about there customers only how much they can leech off of them.

Anyway enough ranting, I just wondered if anyone had experienced the same issue and if they managed to resolve it?

I have been having the grinding noise for a while on my 10 month old Xbone. Never had it shred a disc, but have seen rings on the center of the disc. Not on the actual data mind you. But i have just sent it in. I went and sent in a repair request and it
said to send it in. So I have backed up all my games onto an external HD. I would suggest doing the same and request a repair.

same thing happened to me. i sent it in, takes almost 3 weeks in all to get it back. and i still have problems with my disk drive that was supposedly fixed. it ate up my bros dragon age disc wich i had to replace out of pocket because if the title is not
of microsoft studios then they dont care about your damaged disk. youll be lucky if they hook you up with a free month of xbl. but yeah support is pretty gangster how they deal with you. everytime i spoke with them someone had something different to say. they
wanna dupe you into paying 15$ and doing a 400$ retainer to send you a new console. i chose to get it repaired cuz the lady said id kjeep all my stored stuff on the hard drive but then when i got it back it was totaly wiped out. it took nearly three whole
days to re install all my stuff. i got lied to.

I would set this machine up for repair. Now that some things are opening up sort of
