Disc Drive Does Not Accept Discs

I bought my Xbox One shortly after the release of Destiny, so I could receive the "free game" special. I inserted Destiny and the Xbox ran fine. Yesterday, I ejected the disc from the drive because I wanted to play a movie; however, the drive was not accepting
the movie. There seemed to be quite a bit of resistance from the drive and I did not want to force the disc into the drive. I tried a different Blu-Ray disc and the same problem occurred.

Does my console have to be replaced?

Would you mind elaborating on your issue? Is the disc drive unable to read discs, or will it not accept discs at all? If you insert the disc, does it make a grinding noise?

Non responsive disc drive.

Will no longer accept discs after the first one.

Installed Forza 5, took about an hour to install ... doesn't seem reasonable with this tech.

Now will not accept any discs.

 

Does it work now, and if so, how did you fix it?

 

Can you try holding the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down to see if that helps?

 

No, i just got it two days ago. Please help.

 

Had to take XBOX one back to shop. Didn't recognise disc. Funny noise from drive for a few seconds then nothing. Tried hard restart on power button but no luck. On one of the forums the power settings was mentioned. Use the energy saving mode. If you use
quick start some functions may not start. Didn't work for me but may help you. Took XBOX back to shop and it was replaced.

 

I tried the "reboot" technique that onyx suggested above; however, this did not work. Do you think my system is faulty? I would much rather have it replaced if this is the case.

I guess I would have to send it to Microsoft since Target has a 30 day return policy, correct?

Our Xbox is not reading disk for sometime now...not sure if an update will fix this or do we really need to send it in for service when so many others appear to be having the same issue....please put out a software patch to fix this issue as the Xbox hard
drive is to small to keep downloading the games!

My xbox one(used only for 4 days) wont read any discs, could it be something to do with the problems microsoft had on xmas day?? ...

 

I'd take it back where you got it and have them exchange it for another.

 

For those whose consoles are not reading discs please try these steps:

1. Go to Settings

2. Go to Disc & Blu Ray

3. Uncheck Enable BD Live

4. Click on Clear Persistent Storage 3 times

5. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down

If that doesn't work you can try reverting the console to it's factory settings.

If all else fails you would need to either return the console to the store for an exchange or set up a repair through the website.

the disc drive in the replacement xbox one console i received from microsoft makes a whirring noise when inserting a disc... only while it is accepting the disc. sounds like it might be the motor that pulls the disc inside the drive. anyone having any issues
with this?
