Disc Drive Buzzes when game disc is inserted, but game still plays. Should I be worried?

When I insert a game disc (Forza Horizon 2--it's the only disc-based game I have at this point), the disc drive makes a slight buzzing sound. Not super loud like others have described. The game still plays and works ok. My fear is that a part in the disc
drive is slowly breaking. It does not make any sound with a blu ray disc in the drive, and the sound also goes away when I pat the side of the console, near the drive. I don't think tapping a console is the best solution either. I just want to know if this
is normal-ish, if it will go away, or if it's something I should be concerned about. If it's something I should be concerned about, I can still return it to Best Buy if need be, but I prefer not to with the time commitment required to set up a One console,
and get games reinstalled.

Original 360 says attempting to read disc....

Anytime game disc (or any disc for that matter) is inserted the console stays on the Xbox 360 (white logo screen) and when I press play it says attempting to read disc. The console make no noise and never plays disc, only gives message. New disc, old disc,
movies, doesn't matter. Does not make a differnece when hard drive is removed and re inserted or console restarted. xbox live and all other gaming options working fine.

Do you have the console vertical or horizontal? If you have it vertical, the disc drive is not designed to operate like that and could be the cause of the noise.

 

I have the same issue with launch XBOX one, just ordered a white Xbox one and I'm putting my launch XBOX one in the living room. I'm hoping the new Xbox one is more quite, as other people say its silent even with a disc, yet mine is not. If it is quite,
I'm going to replace it with advanced exchange, I also have the 2 year warranty from Microsoft.

I would just replace if it bothers you, just for peace of mind. Personally it drives me nuts, and not knowing if I just me having super hearing or not is annoying.

 

If you can, make a very short video (do not show your face and be careful what is shown in your home) or just cover the camera and let us listen

It also only does it when Forza Horizon is inserted. My Kill Bill blu ray did not make any noise. I am going to exchange the copy of Horizon tonight and see if the problem persists. What do you guys think? Sound like more of a disc error?

 

Typically discs are not the source of disc drive sounds.

 

I was thinking the same thing. Any chance I warped the disc removing it from the case? It was one of those cases that seems to not want to give up its game and I may have pulled up on one side too hard.

 

Anything is possible but be honest with yourself. If the disc were warped...wouldn't the drive scratch it? Wouldn't you see rings etched in the disc?

 

I tried the method some people found works on grinding/clicking consoles, which solved my problem last night. I was incredibly happy I didn't have to exchange anything. Put the disc in this morning and the buzz is back. I will be exchanging this console
ASAP.

 

DOn't you wish this Xbox One was made so that the disc drive, and HD +cooling fans were in a place to be swapped out rather than having to swap out the whole console.

While I do understand this could cause more problems....if done right, I feel it would create a better customer experience and a much smaller impact on Microsoft repairs.
