    Disc Based Games Update Bug (or Lock Protection?)


    Xbox One has a bug/lock that prevents disc based games to be updated if it's installed in an external storage.

    Have tried different types of hard disks from various manufactures, but the system recuses to update the disc based game if it's installed in an external storage.

    Disc based games tested so far: Forza 5, Forza Horizon 2, Ryse, Halo The Master Chief Collection, Kinect Sports Rival.

    External storages tested: Sumsung M3, Western Digital My Passort, Hitachi Touro Mobile Pro, Toshiba Stor.E, Crucial MX100 SSD, Seagate Expansion, Seagate Hybrid.

    All the above hard disk drives are larger than 256GB and were connected through USB 3.0.

    The update starts but never leaves the 0% progress.

    I discussed this issue before chatting with an Xbox support technician and it appears some games can only be updated if it's installed in the internal Xbox One hard drive because of some sort of lock protection that he didn't tell me about.

    Attention! this only happens when the games are disc based and are installed in any external storage device that I tested!

    Is very easy to do the test. Install the game in an external storage device that meets the requirements and try to update, the update fails.

    PLEASE IF THIS IS SOME KIND OF LOCK PROTECTION, DISABLE IT SO WE CAN UPDATE OUR DISC BASED GAMES INSTALLED IN AN EXTERNAL STORAGE.

    Dead Rising 3 Update Problem

    If it is a disc based game, I had a bug where the drive wouldn't wake up from sleep (they might have fixed this in the latest build) and would try to update but kept failing. ejecting the disc and popping it back in fixed it.

    Could be something worth remembering to try if it happens again.

    Can you update xbox one games without putting the disc in ?

    Currently, games do not update automatically. You can elect to update them manually from the apps screen, but disc-based games require the disc inserted to update.

    AP2.5 and Profile corruption

    Have you been able to connect this Xbox to Live? A console should only corrupt a profile when it is already banned, as this is to stop people gaining achievements and then putting it back on an unbanned machine to update them to Live.



    AP2.5 is a disc based protection that prevents copied games from even booting.

    Playasia only list games that are disc based thats concerning disc based games not downloadable content

    Tombraider guardian of light was region locked (dlc only)

    Never byawebsite. For downloadable content it will only end in errror

    Yes the download fail is usually a sign of a region mismatch usually near the end or the begining

    Especially if you use a workaround to get us content

    Region locks operate by country not by continents

    If you are using a us account you cant use us based region locked content

    Interesting. if you watch the video near the end, he's trying to cap the base closest to the enemy spawn, and it won't let him. I wondered what was going on there...
