    Disable Pop-Up Keyboard


    I use an external keyboard for gaming / typing on my Xbox One. Gaming works fine, but when typing in a text field, the on-screen keyboard is a big issue.

    The OSK (On-Screen Keyboard) is slow, and I’m a fast typist. Everything I type in the three or four seconds until the OSK appears is lost. This is especially annoying in Fortnite Creative, where short and informative messages are heavily
    used. With half the message deleted, I have to scroll all the way back to add them in.

    It’s big. Any content that might be useful to see when I’m typing (like Minecraft chat commands), are covered.

    You have to press enter twice every time you’re finished! Because the OSK is a separate popup, you have to confirm with “Enter” to close it. Most text fields require their own conformation to send, which means I have to do it twice!

    As far as I know, there is no way to disable the OSK. I followed this thread and this thread,
    and the solution did nothing for me. Am I missing something, or does this not work?

    Sorry to say but the on-screen keyboard can't be disabled now.

    In the past worked for Xbox consoles , but now since the Console companion didn't receive more updates. This is not possible

    Try a Power Cycle

    1. Press and hold the Xbox button in the center of your Xbox One controller to open the Power Center.
    2. Select Restart console.
    3. Select Restart.

    I meant that when u type using keyboard on xbox edge browser a pop on screen keyboard also appears which blocks the screen i was asking if their was a way to remove that pop up keyboard when using a keyboard

    Hello, My name is King. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

    I'll recommend you do a power cycle to clear the system cache

    - Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.

    - Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 2 minutes.

    - Plug the console power cable back in. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on and check if it's all good.

    If that doesn't help, I'll suggest you try doing a factory reset keeping games and apps on your console. This will refresh the console and remove all potential bugs without deleting any game data.

    - Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    - Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

    - Select Reset console.

    - Choose Keep Games and Apps

    Once that is done, you'll need to sign into the console using your Microsoft account credentials. If the issue is with your console, that should fix it.
