    Dirty discs


    So recently I have put a disc into my Xbox one S and it made the Xbox vibrate. And when I took it out I didn't know what the problem was. But the only things I knew was that my Xbox doesn't do it with any other disc and the disc in particular was dirty. Could the dirtiness of the disc be the problem, or is it something worse?

    And if the dirtiness is the problem, what's the best way to clean it without damaging anything?

    There is something I have never understood about people and that is, Why is it that whenever they get a disc read error message on their 360 or DVD player they always assume the worst? When at times it can be nothing more than a dirty lens or a dirty disc.

    Several times on my 360 I have had it having trouble reading discs and all that was wrong with it was that either the disc was dirty or the lens was dirty. With my DVD lens cleaner it fixed my dirty lens in no time.

    Hello Almondbow, if dust particles are on the surface of the CD or DVD, use a micro fiber cloth or soft cloth that does not release lint to clean the dust. To hold the CD or DVD during cleaning, place your finger or thumb inside the center hole of the CD or DVD or simply hold the edges, but avoid touching the glossy surface.

    Before you start cleaning the disc, remember that the media is very delicate, handle the DVD or CD carefully, do not use abrasive or cleaning products, and do not touch the reflective surface with your fingers.

    If you can notice a scratch on the surface of the CD or DVD, you can try doing a clean sometimes, even if the disc is slightly scratched, it can be read again if properly cleaned.

    Hi,

    This error is a disc read error. A cyclic redundancy check (CRC) is an error reading the data from a disc. There could be a number of reasons for this:

    • The data on the disc is corrupt (highly unlikely)
    • The area of the disc being read is dirty or damaged
    • Your PC DVD drive laser isn't working as it should or the diode is dirty

    The main part of of MSF2020 can be installed on practically any drive, it does not need to be C:\. Mine is installed on my internal SSD F:\ drive.

    Check the disc isn't dirty or damaged. If it's dirty clean it with a soft none-abrasive cloth.
