Dirt Showdown (Games with Gold) - unable to buy!

Hi,

I have xbox live gold until January 2017. I was able to buy Killer Istinct for xbox one through the games with gold January using a web browser from my laptop but I am not able to buy Dirt Showdown for the xbox 360 which is also available with games with
gold January. I am not able to do it from my console as I am away from home and the only way I can buy it is to do it via a browser and that is not working.

Can someone look into this please?

yes I have tried buying Dirt Showdown through xbox.com and I received the same message, but now I can't buy Dirt Showdown for free with games with gold.

the problem is I was not able to get Dirt Showdown free with games with gold when it was available because of the error

What is the error code or message you are seeing?

Note that to purchase Xbox 360 games on the website you will need to have a valid payment method (either debit/credit card or PayPal) on your account for it to work as simply having funds in your Microsoft Account is insufficient (whereas having funds on
the account is enough for the Xbox One's web marketplace to work).

I have always been buying my games through the browser and I have a card registered. I did just add/buy Killer Instinct for xbox one just before I tried buying Dirt Showdown.

Okay, first thing would normally be to check the region of the webpage matches your account region, but I clicked your Gamertag and you say you're based in England and the URL in the image is GB so that should be fine.

So, next step: can you confirm that your physical location, Xbox Live region and billing information's region all match?

If they do not match, you will need to update them in order so that they do, and then you should be able to complete the purchase. From experience, the Xbox One's web store is slightly more forgiving which could explain why that worked and DiRT Showdown
does not.

In the case of the Xbox Live Region being the one that doesn't match (it's not saying GB), then you would need to go through the steps for an account migration, which you can read about here:

support.xbox.com/.../change-region

If it's the physical location (i.e. when you say you're away from your console this means being outside GB), then you would need to wait until you're back in England to complete the transaction.

Thanks for your post. I am physically out of Europe at the moment. This is dumb though, I have done it before from outside the EU and it worked for 360 games... I am not back to the UK until after Jan 20th which means I will miss Dirt Showdown when it leaves
gold on Jan 16th

 

I have fixed the issue.

Because I am physically away from GB, I logged into my UK PC using remote desktop and added the 360 game with gold Dirt Shodown through my desktop at home and it worked!

Thanks for your hint Maxen about being physically there i.e. buying from a UK IP. Doing it via remote desktop solved the issue

I am surprised though as this was not the case before.

 

It won't always be a problem because it depends on the game. For instance, Xbox Live Arcade games are much more likely to allow you to download while your physical location maybe doesn't match, whereas some "bigger" retail releases are more restrictive.
