@ Lofty I am sure it will tooo DirectX12 :), we are only talking about CPU core leveling here, DX12 has sooo much more in it for example new methods that aid the use of move engines and having multiple compute and graphics command processors to make sure you never
stall the GPU. (currently GPU's only use one or multiple Graphics Command Processors with the likes of SLI setups)

I think this is where some thought the xbox had a hidden GPU nonsense came from, where as it was more like "lets have two processors for graphics so we can do this task twice as fast and never stall the GPU, and do the same with Compute"

*edit when I say two processors I mean just the Graphics Command Processors not to seperate GPU's

It still looks a long way off and given the track record their late SDK push outs already, I'm not banking on this until late 2015 at the earliest. Of course, I hope MS will get some fire under their butts...

^^ agreed, I think some special cases might have early access. Microsoft first party studios for example but still think those games wont be until late 2015. I hope they can come up with some demo's like what we are talking about here but on a game to show
what changes might be possible.

to coin a phrase "real world examples"

I was reading that after E3 the devs @ Division are working super close with MS and vice versa, lets hope MS is using some early code on that game.

The SIGGRAPH example doesn't apply to Xbox One. The performance gains are at the low end of the spectrum. The GPU in Xbox One is far, far more capable than an Intel IGP and doesn't have the thermal constraints of the example system. Just like AMD's Mantle,
these things don't help dedicated hardware much.
That's not entirely true. It's very much game dependant. As an example you can get a 15fps boost by upgrading from an AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition overclocked to 4.2ghz to an i5 3570k running at base clocks in Skyrim
I said "top of the line". An i5 is a mid grade processor, so my statement still stands.

Current gen games don't max out the processor. That's why current gen consoles actually have pretty weak processors compared to what's available. Yes, DX12 makes it easier to max out the processors, but your point is irrelevant and moot since that's not
the bottleneck that developers are running into.

6. Just because a processor is an i5 doesn't automatically make it mid-range for gaming.

tomeshardware.com does a pretty good comparison chart for CPUs and how good they generally are for gaming

7. www.techspot.com/.../page7.html

The i5 2500k and i5 3570k (not shown in the comparison but it's a touch better than the 2500k) are considered two of the better CPU's for gaming, especially when overclocked. As a matter of fact the 2500k absolutely stomps all over AMD's high range tier
CPU's from the FX range and the Phenom II range as well as several more expensive i7 offerings from Intel (only one shown in the test) as well as only being 3fps less powerful than the i7 2600k.

Regardless the point still stands that spending money on a good CPU for a CPU dependant game makes a difference, and as you can see from the chart a high range i7 pretty much storms past the competition by a pretty decent margin.

I have an i5-3330 in my PC and it is absolutely top notch.

Unfortunately a lot of people seem to think that more expensive automatically equals better.

That simply isn't the case.

9. PC's are nothing like console's esp one that has an APU and a completly new hardware setup that requires a whole new revision of direct x, which is what the console is named after.

Look we are going in circles here either believe the actual developers or the SDF, I for one see the main article as very promising. This cpu business is just one of the many new elements they have revealed about direct x, they have yet to reveal loads and
have said this is the case.

10. You're quite right, but then it also depends on what the CPU is generally designed for as well. I've always found that with it's all about bang for buck with PC hardware rather than just paying for the most expensive hardware and hoping it does the job without
researching it's actual capability.

Witcher dev was out of context as it was for Phil explaining the difference from dx11 to dx12.

Gpu is not a bottle neck honestly... Xbox one is a very balanced system . Software Is what will push it to make it a better gpu the problem was when Xbox launched it basically had alpha drivers when they did the 180.

Now unlocking 10% from the gpu which was for muscle tracking( skeleton tracking at all times) is now in the hands of the devs to decide if they want it or not. Once drivers are updated even with dx12 onced released than we will see more output from the gpu.

Funny how Phil said dx12 is like perfect dark zero to halo 4 leap in graphics
