Directv picture quality severely degraded when running through Xbox One

LiveTV is very groovy feature, it is understandable that you are excited to see it. Huge features sometimes take place in building blocks (To prove the tech is sound, improve features, etc). There are more variables than meets the eye, of which each needs
to be taken in account when it comes to TV. There will be updates coming that hopefully will make this feature better for you and others. Thank you for your interest and feedback.

OK, so I've "borrowed" the Monster HDMI cable I was using with my 360 and used it to replace the stock HDMI cable that came with the Xbox One console. That leaves me with a set up of a Monster HDMI cable running from Directv HR22 to the XB1, and another
Monster HDMI cable running from XB1 to TV (Panasonic Viera VT-65). Picture quality was unchanged. It is still degraded compared to running Directv straight from the HR22 to the TV.

It's also probably not helping that I have to fumble around with trying to awkwardly reach behind the console to unplug it every time I need to power cycle, or every time I contact Microsoft Support since that is apparently their solution to everything.
But even so, I do check all connections each time to make sure everything gets plugged back in properly. Just very frustrating and annoying having to do this so frequently. I'm encouraged by seeing regular updates being rolled out, but I don't give a rat's
patoot about party chat or other social gaming features I'll never use anyway. Microsoft touted the TV integration as a major selling point, which is what ultimately convinced me to go with it. Is there any word about future updates planned to address TV pass-through
and getting it up to 1080p where it should be?

 

I have been having issues rewing and fast forwarding on DirecTV since March my whole screen freezes until I open guide or DVR or menu or press play

Sorry this is still not working to the spec you are looking for. I hope at least you are seeing some of the improvements that have been going into this new feature. It is constantly evolving, and I hope you stick with it and are willing to do a bit of testing,

"Monster HDMI cable" does not specify rating. Monster (I cant recall the holding company off-hand) the company made cables back in the days of 1.3 (I think even before that, when they were making audio cables (that I wish I could have purchased for car and
home audio)). Its like saying I have a Chevy... there are lots of Chevy's. Go by rating not by company. Not a big deal, hope it makes sense. Also, time of purchase also does not dignify which rating (you can still buy a '56 Cadillac El dorado today, although
one of my favorite cars of all time, it may not 'rate' well in today's standards of testing new vehicles).

How do you mean degraded (not being snarky or anything like that... visually how is it under-preforming)?

Powercycling does not involve removing the HDMI cables. Although, testing a different HDMI input on the TV may be a good idea to check a faulty port/cable.

HR22 is not the 'newest' of STB's (I think there are 5 later generations of that version STB (HR44 being the newest I think?).

forums.xbox.com/.../1626316.aspx. I am by no means saying it is "bad", I am saying there may be more compatible hardware to resolve the issue (the TV provider will swap STB's at no cost from what I have seen).

I thought I could give you some insight not what's happening. Here's my setup:

Display: Pioneer Kuro 600m

Receiver: Pioneer Elite Sc-05tx

STB: Directv Genie HR-44 500

Connection path is: STB -- Xbox One -- Receiver -- Monitor

Output from STB: 1080i and 1080p

Output from Xbox One to Monitor: 1080P

I have switched between HDMI cable provided with Xbox One to other HDMI cables I own. In both cases, the picture looks washed out when compared to a straight connection between STB -- Receiver -- Monitor. The best way to describe it is it looks as if the
I.R.E or gama levels are too high. I've tried adjusting color space levels on both the display and Xbox One, but unfortunately it doesn't resolve the issue. Finally, resolution whether it's 1080 or 720 seems to have no effect on the issue. I hope this helps
you and the team track down this issue.

 

I wish someone would come back with solid news about an update about the broken tv feature..for me this is the biggest problem with the machine. Everything else seems to be getting fixed apart from this!

 

After having the xbox one for 6 months I finally decided to try the Live TV. I have a Dish ViP722K STB. I immediately noticed the degraded picture quality especially on standard definition channels. High definition channels also exhibited some degradation
including a red push. On SD the blacks and shadow detail are blotchy and hazy. There are also blotches of color throughout. My STB is set to 1080i but setting it to 720p did not make a difference. The x1 video output is set to 1080p, 24 bit, standard,
auto-detect. Changing any of these settings didn't help and PC RGB made it worse. I've been searching the internet on this issue and it seems that there is still no resolution. I am beginning to think that it's a hardware performance issue and not software
related or fixable.

I am having the same issue with my DirecTV genie going through my Xbox One through a Sony receiver to a 2014 Vizio P70. I have swapped out all of the cables and the HDMI issues only go away if I bypass the Xbox. This seems to have manifested what feels
like a while ago. I had thought it was an issue with the HD connected to the Genie, until I removed and eventually replaced the drive.

I see these issues when I fast forward and rewind. I also sometimes lose sound, requiring soft booting the Xbox. Researching this issue, it seems people have been having this issue since early in 2014.

Is is possible that there isn't a fix for this?

 

I have just disconnected my Sky box HDMI lead from the Xbox one and connected it directly into the TV HDMI. The picture is much sharper. Plus i no longer get any juddering or lag when watching Motorsports.

I'm having the same problem as Dropper. When watching Directv through the xbox and fast forwarding or rewinding, my picture quality downgrades to 480p and I have to disconnect and reconnect my HDMI cable to get the 1080p back. I've tried swapping out HDMI
cables and the problem is still there.

Is there anything to fix this?
