    DirecTV (Set-top Boxes) HR44/C31: DirecTV C61K (4K) - no 4K when connected to Xbox One S or X
So, I have been doing the tango with Xbox Support starting with my Xbox One S and it is now continuing with my Xbox One X. Issues:

    - I want to run my TV signal through the Xbox One

    - I have a DirecTV C61K (4K) receiver, however, whenever I try to watch a 4K program it tells me that the 4K is not supported. Switching to 1080p (oh yes, the C61K is connected to my non-4K HR44 Genie)

    - When I connect my DirecTV C61K receiver direct to my 4K TV, or when I connect it to my 4K Yamaha receiver, 4K is supported and working just fine.

Then I tried it another way. I tried hooking all devices to my Yamaha 4K receiver, and then the HDMI out 1 from the receiver to the Xbox One X, then the HDMI out from the Xbox One to my 4K LT TV (10-bit HDR deep color HDMI 3 port). This setup will give
me the 4K signal on my C61K (to my Yamaha), however, as soon as I watch a 4K show I get a message that I need to connect my Yamaha to a HDCP2.2 HDMI port. So that tells me that the Xbox One X (or S) does not support HDCP2.2 on their HDMI in. Could this be
the reason why, when I connect the C61K direct to the Xbox One HDMI in, that the box switches to 1080p when watching a 4K program?

Furthermore, I had to figure out a way to get audio from the Xbox back to my AV receiver, so I tried using the ARC HDMI 2 port on the LG TV, and connected it with the HDMI out 2 port on my Yamaha, and set up the audio return channel ... however I never got
it to work DirecTV HR44/C31: DirecTV C61K - no 4K when connected to Xbox One S or X :) Anyway, this is not too important for this setup because I usually play Xbox with a 7.1 headset. I guess that this would be my preferred setup, but... still no 4K.

Right now I have it back to this setup:

    - C61K connected to Xbox HDMI in

    - Xbox HDMI out to Yamaha HDMI 1 in

    - Yamaha connected to HDMI 3 in with HDR deep color enabled on LG TV

It seems to look good and work great, but still no 4K support on the DirecTV end. Switches to 1080p. So I am wondering if DirecTV uses HDCP2.2 for their 4K programming and if there is a way to turn it off?

Also, why is Microsoft not the innovator and add support for other HDR protocols besides HDR10? Come on. I paid a lot of money for my 4K TV in 2014, and a lot of money for my Yamaha 4K receiver in 2015, and none of it is compatible with Xbox One S or X?
That's just plain silly. Sure wishes someone at Microsoft would see this and update the Xbox One software and drivers. I highly doubt that DirecTV (or any other TV provider) will bend and adhere to Microsoft's Xbox One tech. If Microsoft wants to continue
with their Guide and TV play through then they have to make sure that it is all compatible with the TV providers' hardware.

If anyone has any other suggestions for me regarding my setup and how to solve this 4K and HDR problem with my Xbox One X please chime in and let me know. I WANT MY HDR AND 4K!

    :)

The most recent thing that I have heard about this issue is that the video pass thru is not 4k compatible. I think it may have an older HDMI input that cannot handle 4k. I could be wrong.

  3. 4K Set top Box - Directv

I have an Xbox One X; I also have DirecTV; My television is an LG webOS TV UH6350; my DirecTV receiver is Model C61K-700. When I run my DirecTV receiver model C61K-700 directly to the HDMI input on my television (LG webOS TV UH6350 ) I am able to get 4K
support from DirecTV. However, when I Set up live TV with my Xbox One X by Connecting my set-top box HDMI output to the Xbox One HDMI input I no longer get 4k support. I receive an error stating my television does not support 4K and it automatically switches
to 1080P. Does the XboxOne X Connection to my set-top box only support 1080P? Also, is anyone else experiencing this when they connect a 4K set box to the Xbox One X?
