DirecTV (Set-top Boxes) HR22/100: My screen loses signal when the Xbox is set to 1080p
so after a week of trying different fixes and what not, yesterday when once again I tried to connect the xbox to my pc screen and use the 1080p settings it did get signal... I didnt do anything different, I was just frustrated and hoped for the best... thank
you guys for helping but I guess it is fixed now but I will post here updates if I lose signal again... and I dont even know why... possibly one of the fixes I tried didnt work at first because the HDMI or the adapter wasnt connected properly or something
( although it was one of the first things I checked...)

Thank you guys for the help anyways tho!

    :)

  2. DirecTV HR22-100 v HR20-700

The DirecTV HR20-700 receiver (older unit) does TV pass through perfectly. The HR22-100 receiver (newer unit but still several years old) is not recognized at all. DirecTV techs say the problem is with Xbox. My online research suggests everything from DRM
to resolution. I did reduce the resolution on the HR22 to 720p with no effect, the HR20 is at full 1080p. I am using the same 4k HDMI cables on each box. Ideas?

  3. HDMI pass through

No my directv box controls what signal it is recieving and sends it through the xbox. Not all broadcasts are in 1080p.

Did you ensure that your HDMI cable was plugged in firmly? Try replugging it.

Due to the nature of the VGA protocol it may not be able to support resolutions above 1280x720 due to bandwidth issues. The signal strength starts to drop off past that.

I would suggest a HDMI > DVI adapter instead to fix your problem. HDMI to HDMI would be ideal, but some monitors don't have HDMI.

Unfortunatly although that does make sense, after I tried using different screens using different settings it seems that even using HDMI on a different screen didnt help... after testing 4 different screens it seems like getting signal when using 1080p
is only possible on a 1366 x 768 screen, and getting signal on a 1080 x 1920 screen is only possible when the xbox is set to 720p, I cant understand why or how...

And yes I tried a 1080 x 1920 screen using HDMI, still no signal above 720p...

  11. The Xbox and your monitor each have their own separate settings for 1080p. I'd make sure that both are sync'd up, so one won't override the other......

Can you reset the display settings while connected via HDMI-HDMI?

    1. Turn off and unplug for 30 seconds and plug back in.

    2. Hold EJECT and then push the physical power button on the console.

    3. Hold EJECT until you hear 2 power on tones and release.

    4. The screen will be 640x480, please change the resolution back to 1080p in display settings.
